I would seriously consider going to see GNR again if new songs (like brand fucking new off a future GNR album new) are confirmed to be performed. I have payed and loved every GNR show I have ever gone. But I am voting with the mighty dollar here. Its time for new music.

Thanks for the numbers.  Any idea how their residency compared to Motley Crue's?  Just wondering.

Guns N? Roses Rumored for Las Vegas Residency

We already know Guns N? Roses will be traveling to South America for a series of tour dates in the spring ? and now it looks like the band is heading to Vegas too.

The scoop appears to have been spilled by the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, whose Facebook page currently features the GNR logo next to ?COMING SPRING 2014.? What that means exactly, no one?s saying just yet, but the post urges fans to ?Text GNR to 97580 to be the first to hear the big news.? The venue is also spreading the news via billboard and trying to generate excitement with the #GNRVegas hashtag on Facebook and Twitter.

According to Blabbermouth, GNR?s first residency grossed more than $1.6 million over six dates between Oct. 31 and Nov. 10, 2012, drawing nearly 17,500 people in all.

No, I meant Axl himself.

He no showed on me at an arena 20 minutes form house.  Incredibly frustrating and disappointing evening.  But I wasn't really out anything.  My ticket cost got refunded.

But to incur plane tickets, lodging, etc?  I think you'd have to be out of your fucking mind.  No refunds on that stuff.  Because that may be the night he doesn't show.  Or storms off stage after 5 songs.

And before the usual apologists come in to tell me that he hasn't done that stuff in a few years, I can point to a FAR longer list of artists that have never done it, ever.

Axl is just a bad risk.  He comes to your town?  Yeah, go.  But incur expenses to travel and see him?  Risky as hell, in my view.

Are you serious?

So people pointing out facts are labeled "apologists" now. Keep pointing at your list of artists while the rest of the fans enjoy the shows.

Amazing how this was an issue for you guys for years, and then once things changed, you started reminding people how it used to be bad and it could happen again. Win-win for you!

Deadly serious.

You are seriously going to puff out your chest simply because he hasn't done any of that irresponsible shit on the last leg?  That's a big win for you?  Talk about your low bars.

If you want to point out "facts", there is no debating the fact he has a terrible track record on this stuff.  Those are facts, albeit inconvenient ones to some, it seems.

He's a riskier act to rely on than any other major act on his level.  That's a fact.  Of all the artists I go see, only one do I find myself saying "man, hope he shows up".  And I say it as 30% gallows humor, 70% genuine concern.

"On the last leg"? Shows how out of touch you are. You're just like all the uninformed who like to keep repeating the same shit in order to make it true.

Here's some facts: He's showed up to over 200 shows since Dj joined the band. All over the world.
Maybe this is difficult to grasp for someone who's so obsessed about the "facts" about him not showing up.

And on the subject of the Vegas residency. I got news for you, he showed up in 2012! For all those shows!

There's not much we can do about you being bitter about a show being canceled. Possibly over ten years ago.....

There's a certain kind of people who will always remind us how bad things are, and when they change, how bad they were. And how something bad might still happen.
Sometimes they see themselves as "level headed" and "objective".

Ironically enough, some of these people often have problems giving credit when it's due. If something good happens, they're not seen....

To summarize the facts for those who aren't up-to-date with GN'R:

GN'R has played over 200 shows since Dj joined the band (since December 2009).
A show in Costa Rica was canceled due to an unsafe stage in April 2010. Two shows were canceled in 2011 in the USA due to production issues.
The Dublin show you keep hearing about? The band went back to Dublin in 2012 and played a show without any incidents. The band has also played successful shows in Vancouver, Montreal and Philadelphia without any incidents.

Or "minimally observant".

Even at his most undependable, the ACTUAL % of shows he cancelled (using total shows scheduled as the denominator) STILL wouldn't put me off.  And trending says that, in the past 4 to 5 years, the risk has gotten even lower (to the point of almost nothing).  To me...this doesn't seem like much of a risk.  I doubt weather issues or production issues with their set being moved are likely to rear their heads....

Especially considering the shows are in freakin' Vegas.  Somehow, as disappointed as I'd be with a cancellation, I think I could probably find SOMETHING to keep my wife and I occupied and happy while there.  Tongue

Haha yeah.... vegas is not a boring place.....

DX... I often see eye to eye with you on some of ur criticisms, often they are valid...but not this one

give the guy his due when its deserved... he has been pretty reliable lately... dont know why Jarmo hasnt mentioned since DJ joined... dont see how he has anything to do with it but Axl has been much more on point in recent times.. i wouldnt worry about him not showing up at this point

not unless there was a reallllly big basketball game on tv  Grin

Axl will show up  Roll Eyes

With GNR i'd only exercise caution if you rely on public transport. Even if Axl took the stage at 9, you won't be leaving till about 12, which is pushing it for trains and buses. However this is vegas so hotels are on your doorstep.

I am speaking just to the track record in relation to other bands.

Take them and any other 2 bands you want.  GNR, Pearl Jam and U2 for example.  Based on track record, would you have any real concerns of a no show, unexplained cancellation, or a storm off 5 songs in for whatever reason with those fellas?  Not really.  And once you compare those things to GNR, its not even a question in terms of where the higher risk lies.

Even look at something like the RNR HOF.  People bought tickets and made arrangements to be in Cleveland to see the band go in.  Then, what...week of, Axl bails?

You just have to be on the lookout for that shit with this band.  The track record is what it is.

And to tell me that things have been good lately, yes, that's valid.  Its also telling me that the guy with 5 prior DUIs is on the straight and narrow because he didn't have one within the year.  Maybe he didn't, but the history of him being a bad risk will always be present based on a proven track record over time.

Yeah, the cabs right after an event in Vegas (concert, comedian, etc) is always a bitch, isn't it?
