I also think that Axl's high voice from 2002 suited songs like Madagascar, Think About You and SCOM much better than the rasp. The 02 Era is very underrated, so many amazing moments from that particular tour.  peace

I think he sounds tremendous on that tour on the new songs.  Most of my favorite 'Madagascar's are that tour.

Yeah, thats a really good performance by Axl. Docklands too. The 02-gigs have been unfairly downrated imo.

The pukkelpop-show (and vma-performance) are amongst my highligts from this era. Some Epic buckethead-solos here. ok

amazing you brought the pukkelpop show up, I was there but never found such nice footage of it ... thank you so much!!!

after the booing from the crowd(beeing late) I remember they played (3) new songs? and they sounded pretty good!

:edit: I still have audio on my ericsson t68i (all distorted, 10% of the quality of this footage) but still a proud owner ;-)

I remember driving up to Philly for the Dec 6 show, listening to the MSG boots and being real excited.
Axl was getting better and more comfortable with each show.
The band had so much momentum, buzz and excitement. And then ... yeah.

Not to be a downer, but I'll never forget that night in Philly -
- Seeing the guy telling Mix-Master Mike to "keep going" until he got booed
- Watching the sound guy rip out all the chords, cover his shit and run
- The marching sound of the riot police shoving us out
- The fires, bottles being thrown and helicopters circling the area

Agreed.  I was 15 and so freaking excited to see Axl.  Then the boos, then chairs, then all hell breaking loose.

Even worse was prolonged and brutal silence that followed in the years after.  He kind of gave some insight at the Electric Factory, but still not good enough for me.

On the other hand, I get why he?d have to keep his mouth shut.  I can only imagine the mountain of legal bullshit to sort through after something like that happened, especially with a corporation as big as Clear Channel and a band as big as Guns.

Fucked over in Philly - 12/06/02

I think my favorite part of Philly was seeing people rip chairs out of the upper deck and throw them down onto the floor.  I'm just happy nobody got seriously hurt.

All things considered I've gotten to see Guns twice, and my third time will (hopefully) come this year (never say for sure with Axl), and it's semi cool to say you were at a Gn'R riot.  haha.
