It's weird what is going on there...

On one hand, Juan Carlos Guerrero says it's canceled...on the other hand, Javier Casta?eda says they have until today to announce the final site for the festival.

My opinion? I don't think it's gonna happen...I'm not rooting against it, but I don't think there will be enough time to put this back on the right track, and if there was no security problem earlier and it was all political blockage, now there will be security problems...

Juan Carlos Guerrero, spokesman for the festival, says the festival is cancelled; meanwhile, the organizer Javier Casta?eda said this Thursday the official site will be announced.

The organizers of Hell and Heaven haven't yet confirmed if the event will be held this weekend nor where it is going to take place.

Javier Casta?eda, organizer of the event, assured it will happen, while Juan Carlos Guerrero, spokesman of the festival, announced its cancellation.

"The band are still confirmed, which makes us proud, as people from Guns N' Roses and Kiss sent people to help to save the festival. We are being victim of an outrage" said Javier Casta?eda to Carlos Z??iga of M?s Milenio.

Casta?eda affirmed tomorrow (Today, Thursday) a press conference will announce the new site for the festival.

For his  part, Juan Carlos Guerrero, official spokesperson of the event confirmed that the cancellation was a fact.

"The festival is canceled, possibly some of the bands dates are postponed, we will see if they want to reschedule some separated shows. But as of the concept of the festival it is already canceled" Juan Carlos Guerrero, official spokesperson of the festival, told to ihey!.

According to the organizer, the loss would be on the figure of 150 million pesos if the festival is canceled; though Juan Pablo Ruvalcaba, chief operating officer, denied this fact and said soon new information will be given.

Yeah, I think the idea of that festival at the original venue is gone. But maybe they can still have some kind of alternative event where festival tickets are valid.
Both headliners have played in Mexico before.... I don't recall any issues in 2011.

I think the previous editions of the festival were held in another state...this is all a political problem. Which I don't understand.

But if they manage to make it happen in another place, it would be heroic. But I wonder if there will  be enough time to properly build up the minimum structure needed for this kind of event (stage, sound, lights, bathrooms, food...) when there's no site confirmed yet.

Unless there is already a site ready to receive the festival and they are already working on the structure, but if this is the case, given all the repercussion it seems to be having on Mexican media, wouldn't we know it by unofficial sources by now?

Yeah, since it's a multistage festival spanning two days, it's not as "easy" as a regular stadium gig...


Their Facebook page update says they'll give information today (14th).

They also said the tickets sold were 30/35k per day, and not 80k like that was being said.

The organizers tried to carry out Kiss and GnR concert in Mexico City, but the required permits were denied by government agencies,

That's weird. Both bands have played there in the past. Different promoters though.

I saw media reports saying 40,000 tickets sold.

They were expecting sales between 50,000-80,000.
