Let's see how many different songs we can pick out that the band members have jammed on during the shows.

Not only as intros to songs like November Rain, Patience and Paradise City. But others as well.

Here's an example of Richard and Bumble jamming on a few songs before November Rain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVqkEQ-pXGc
There's the obvious Another Brick In The Wall: Part 2 but before that there's also snippets of other songs such as Neil Young's Ohio and the Rolling Stones' Monkey Man (@1:12).

I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 was jammed on in Tokyo, Japan in 2009.

Then you have the Rolling Stones' Waiting On a Friend as intro to Patience and Aerosmith's Chip Away The Stone for Paradise City.

Here's a snippet of Sly & The Family Stone's Don't Call Me N***er, Whitey before Dizzy's solo in Toronto 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1Vw7dU8T0c

Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills before Another Brick In The Wall: Part 2 in S?o Paulo, Brazil in 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km_yqxMEzM4

They did Iron Man by Sabbath at Roskilde in 2006 (day after Rose was let out if jail reg. the Stockholm hotel and security guard incident). Axl couldn't stop laughing. Bumble kept at it. Funny stuff.

Didn't Axl say prior to the CD release that unbeknownst to many some of the songs have been played live..I wonder if instrumental parts were played as solos..

I am not a fan of the jams....

I know Axl needs them to rest and what not...

but if we are all being honest... not many people go to the shows to see these guys play guitar solos and what not....

they are all talented sure... but if they all get replaced tomorrow... we will still go to the shows to see whoever takes their place play behind Axl

but to the topic... and so im not accused of being completely negative... i enjoy Brick in the Wall a great deal

I just find it amusing how people bring that kind of comments up now.

The solo parts in the shows are nothing new. Go look at your Use Your Illusion VHS tapes and enjoy the drum solo followed by the jam followed by the guitar solo.

Don't forget to watch the intros to November Rain, Patience, Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City.

And how about that middle section in Move To The City?

So you see, if you don't like the solos today, you must've disliked them decades ago as well. So your post brings nothing to this discussion. Because if you had some sense, you would've noticed that the original question wasn't about your opinion.  ok

I really liked Christina Aguilera's Beautiful guitar jam back in 06 and the intrumental jam before Paradise City at the european summer 93 shows.
That was as far as the past goes.
For the latest tours, the jackson 5 abc was great ! It really shows that within the band  there are no musical boundaries..
Another thing i never noticed is the Cult's song in France ! Smiley

And it seems that those jazz jams are gone.Probably it's more fun jamming on various songs than soloing in jazz.

Jarmo, back then the drum solo sucked big balls and and most of the other lengthy jams have been nothing but filling time and annoying. Nothing much has changed except quality. At least to me and every other GNR fan I know personally. I bet you like the solos nowadays better and /or more diverse than the "old solos" because you travel with the band: I give you that. I also give you that you and other people are enjoying the solos that are being played at the recent shows because they are so new and fresh. I mean...if there's nothing else to do like play a new song, why not play the Pink Panther once more? Then again I have to ask you this: Have you ever seen Slash play live outside of GNR? Have you ever noticed the difference between the solos he plays compared to the guitarists who are playing his material in GNR these days? Have you ever really recognized his sound and guitar playing? I would take his approach on SCOM, CW and the guitar work in the middle of RQ over anything played by the new guys which is not meant to be disrespectful.
