I think they only count the Up and Close in North America for 2012. It doesn't count the European or Asian legs of the tour. Or the GNR residency at Hard Rock. I know it's only money but still it's nice to see the boys clean up.

It's always nice to see GN'R do well on lists such as these, and why not?. They are the best live act in the world today in my opinion, and everyone should see them when they get the chance.

It's for the whole year, so both the UCAP North America and the Vegas residency are counted.

They did no arena shows in the US last year, so a gross of $5.7 million seems right.

So how many dates did they do in total? That Metallica figure, if it is correct, is insane!! I wonder what went wrong with the Kiss tour?!

Ok, so the Appetite for Democracy shows had a capacity of about 3,300 per night, seems like they were close to selling out each night (a few hundred short).

Taking the above sales into account they averaged about $267,000 per night. That's $3.2 mill for the whole trek in Vegas.

Adding the UCAP tour, which was 15 shows, mostly venues smaller than The Joint, the $5.7 mill total for the whole year seems right. As the US dates last year was a year of doing something small(er), I would say last year was a success.

When they're doing arenas the story is quite different. For instance, the two dates at The O2 Arena in London last year brought in $1.35 mill alone.
