Appetite For Democracy Blu-ray/DVD - live in Las Vegas Nov 21 2012

Seen the show some times now.

It's clearly been messed with - both music and vocals, backing and lead. Are you kidding me? It leaves me a bit cold. Like "Live Era" (the record), you feel cheated. Especially when you know how powerful this band has been and is in all three incarnations (2002, 2006-2007, 2009-2014). They can rip it up live. There's no question. I've seen the new Guns four times and they are like few other rock bands out there.

Compare this AFD Vegas show to, say, the RAR 2006 or the Lisboa 2006 (RIR proxy) shows - the latter riddled with sound issues and even mistakes - it's really an unfair comparison. Because the AFD Vegas show is all over the place. Doesn't sound like one, genuine performance. It's a copy/paste job. Like a puzzle.


The Seeker still has a lotta power. Nice addition. There are some truly great moments, individually, throughout the show but you just don't get that reality and/or realness feel. I guess maybe it's like comparing real movie sets to CGI sets (like the last Star Wars trilogy). You feel cheated.  Hm. I'm sure it works for some people and that's great, just not for me. To each his own.

I get your point, but i think the only thing they really messed about is to cut most of the between songs stuff out.
Theres some editing at the multitracks for sure. but i dont think they made ovedubs like they did on live era.
This Vegas dvd has a lot less audio editing than most of concert dvd's in general.

Lots of overdubs (different shows, cut and paste, enhancing, dynamics) - I'm not saying they re-recorded anything.

Yea youre probably right.
didnt they record the next show too?

Tokyo 92 is still the ultimate real concert movie for me. No overdubs, no patches, just little cuts here and there.

Sorry if its already been asked, but we're up to 75 pages.

In the UK, I can order via amazon as an import but it says the bluray is region 1 only.

Can anyone who already has the release confirm that an import will work on my UK (region 2) bluray player (not multi region)

Visited this forum off the back of ordering the import from Amazon (how come no UK release?) and mixed feelings after reading some of the threads.

Can anyone pm (or reply) me a status quo of the band - seen lots of exciting stuff about new music, but also rumour (is it only rumour?) re Ron leaving.

Anyway, gonna try and just enjoy my beer and get through the rest of this Vegas gig :-)

Axl indicated that they would be looking into releasing new music.

Ron updated his profile on twitter and/or instagram with wording something like "GNR guitarist (2009-2014)"
Some people take that "2014" to mean he's out of GNR.  When he was asked by fans while doing interviews during his solo tour, he avoided answering the question of whether or not he's still in the band so his status is still in question.     

Anyway, gonna try and just enjoy my beer and get through the rest of this Vegas gig :-)

I've got the 3D version but no 3D TV unfortunately. Enjoying it in HD and 5.1 surround though!

 And that has turned into  and curry with the wife 

Such a shame about Ron if it is true :-( but hope that doesn't set back any drive to make new music.

I agree. It does sound monkeyed with. And it sounds like there is a backing track for the high harmony. Am I hearing things? Personally, I really hate backing tracks (like on the intro for Better) especially when there are qualified singers on stage that can handle the job. I dunno, maybe I'm hearing things, and I don't have the dvd yet either. Although...it's still pretty sick.
