So fucking predictable.

Every fucking time there's even a hint of some kind of official live performance being publicly broadcasted, we have a few people going on and on about whatever grievances they have.

It's the setlist, it's the mix, it's the guitar tone, it's the sound etc etc etc.

Oh, and when it sounds too good, it's "over produced".

They can never win.

This is going to sound a bit odd but I think I'd rather see 1 - 1.5 hours of Axl giving it his all rather than trying to endure three hour shows and holding back on the raspiness etc.

Axl's voice is as strong as ever, the rasp and tone is amazing. As people have said as well, this is the LAST song of the night, give Axl a break... he probably as just sang for 3+ hours, and you guys are knit picking at everything.  Roll Eyes

Sometimes I wonder if some people do this on purpose, just enjoy the performance and kickass DVD/Blue Ray, and stop fucking moaning all the time.  Wink

I think it's a great video, and I can't wait for the full bluray.
Every where I go there is someone complaining about Axl's voice. I have no problem with the clean vocals. It still sounds really good to me but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Bring on the release date! smoking

I attended 10 shows in less than a year, in 5 different countries. I'm not part of that ''youtube crowd'' Jarmo is mentioning (and trust me I'd go to many more concerts if they were free to me or if I lived in a country like USA where you can attend 12 shows in the same city).

Regarding this DVD, nobody care if you (or I) were or not at the concert: everybody will be able to judge it's quality *ONLY* by the sound that comes from the speakers. You think Axl's voice sounds fine, and that's cool. I don't think the same, and that's cool too, because different opinions can coexist.

This sounds ridiculous but if your listening through your computers built in speakers it does sound weak. I usually put on a $10.00 pair of headphones and that alone makes a huge difference..

Cool news for the DVD, hope it will be released on Blu-ray as well.
Not sure why the release date is so vague but hopefully it will be released soon. Smiley

Bottom line is if you don't like how Axl sounds don't buy it. I'm going to get it when it comes out. My only complaint is they didn't play TWAT that night. At least I got a chance to hear it twice live

I haven't heard this much whining since I told my son he couldn't have ice cream for dessert.   Axl sounds perfectly fine in the ONE song we have seen.   The crowd looks entertained and if you are a real fan - you will be too.   Reminds me of the old lady with two hams under each arm, crying she has no bread.

One of the local radio stations talked about it this morning as well. I was waiting for them to say something bad about it but they never did...they actually sounded excited about it which was nice to hear. They're talking about it every half hour during the news.

« Reply #133 on: January 23, 2013, 09:45:36 AM »

and no, you can't say Axl is at his top form on this tour. you just can't.

Says who?

They did 69 shows in 2012. You gotta be on top form to sing around three hours during a "regular" night.

People are saying all kinds of shit about his voice, it's easy. It's easy to be ignorant and just blurt out things for the sake of having an "opinion".

Nobody seems to take some time to think. Let's say you're doing three-four shows per week. For a couple of months.

So, do you take care of yourself and make sure you can do the full tour, three hour shows and give everybody a great show. Or do you just risk everything to please a Youtube crowd and then have to cancel shows because your voice is gone?

Same thing with everything. Do you run around on a wet slippery rain soaked stage and gamble, or do you move less and seem "less into it"?

/jarmo

And, don't forget, when they have to cancel shows because he's blown out his voice, or wrecked his ankle/knee...they'll bitch about that too.

I'd rather 100k of my friends get to see Axl perform, too...and not just seeing Axl destroy himself over an hour and a half for 15k at "my" show.

But that's just me.  I've seen them live over a dozen times between 87 and 2012....and heard Axl, in person, in pretty much every type of "voice" you can imagine (from full on, balls to the wall, short set opening for Aerosmith to sick as shit, probably should be in a fucking hospital, horse).  While the voice changes, the shows always impress.

If he has to manage his voice, or his physical involvement (like in the rain) to do more shows......he should do that.  Anything for more live shows, IMHO.

From a Rolling Stone article posted on the producers Facebook page...

Guns N' Roses will commemorate last fall's Las Vegas residency with a 3D concert film documenting their stint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, which is set to hit theaters (as well as DVD and TV) sometime this year.

I like that the production company putting this together are excited about it and wanted to show it to the fans as soon as possible.

I know people are ragging on Rose's voice in the Paradise City spot...but maybe its why its a preview. Maybe that won't be on the DVD at all. Its just a preview of what to expect in a sense on the DVD they release.
