I must admit life is trite but that's all right

I don't know if this has been posted, but there is no way I'd post this in the main section.  It would be deleted immediately.  Chris Cornell was interviewed and he was asked about opening up for GNR.  Here is his response:

In 1991, Soundgarden opened for Guns N? Roses. What do you remember most about that tour?
Without saying anything negative about Axl, what I remember the most was Duff and Slash and everyone else being regular, sweet, warm guys in a rock band that just wanted to play rock music. And then, like, there was this Wizard of Oz character behind the curtain that seemed to complicate what was the most ideal situation they could ever have been in: They were the most successful and famous rock band on the planet. Every single show, hundreds of thousands of fans just wanted to hear songs. For some reason there seemed to be this obstacle in just going out and participating in that. That is what I remember the most. It?s sad.

So you put it in the VR section? It would make more sense to put it in the Dead Horse section.

Thanks dad!

Actually I could have put it in the other music section in the Soundgarden thread also.  I will let the mods move it as they see fit.  Hopefully they don't delete it (like they did the VMA article from Entertainment Weekly).

Interesting.
Axl came to mind when I was reading an interview with Thayil this morning in regards to come back albums.

Clearly there were many factors that contributed to the blatant shift in sound from UYI to Chinese, but I always had a feeling it had something to do with Axl wanting to "update" their sound. A fatal flaw it seems all the great frontmen go through at some point..

"I think a lot of bands that reunite and end up disappointing their fans because they try to update themselves, and try to fit in to what they're listening to or what they think people are listening to," guitarist Kim Thayil added. So, almost naturally, fans expect albums like this to not be any good."
