If it opens your eyes ...

« on: October 13, 2012, 09:46:02 PM »

I was watching Netflix with my daughter the other night, and bam! Got hit with this:

This came out in 86, about the time GNR was on the brink of getting really really big. It's just funny to me! Just think, if not for GNR, this could have been what people hear in their brains when you say "welcome to the jungle!"   hihi

[Edit by Will] Changed the topic's title to make it clearer and added a working link to be watched on desktops

Or maybe he watched some movies and combined "Welcome to Thunderdome" and "Rumble in the Jungle".

Hanoi Rocks has a song with a line welcome to the jungle..

But if you want the true inspiration it's from a little old black man on a NY Freeway...

Night Train-  James Brown
It's So Easy - Linda Ronstadt
Anything Goes - Cole Porter standard

If you brought "Think About You" up to some kid, they're going to think you're talking about a Frank Ocean song.

Don't forget There Was A Time-James Brown.
I don't think there is any level of plagiarism on these mentioned song titles just fun finding similar song titles to some totally unique songs..

I just thought it was funny because of the ridiculousness of the cartoon iteration on the line "Welcome to the Jungle." Fund stuff.

Thanks for posting those others, raindogs70! I knew about Anything Goes, but I didn't know about the others.

As far as plagiarism, it's about as much plagiarism as if some named their kid David, and then someone else 1,200 miles away also named their kid David.

Although ... an Axl cover of Cole Porter's Anything Goes might be pretty damn sweet!

You can't copyright a song title (or at least in most cases) so it's not plagiarism.

No, this is the place where we come to plagiarize from GNR! Wink

Just kidding.

I'd never get away with it. My singing voice sounds like a dog being strangled.
