Chances of GNR playing Glastonbury 2013?
«

Being one of the lucky 180k people who will be attending 2013 Glastonbury... Do you think there is a chance GNR could be in the picture to play next years biggest (& bestest) festival on the planet?
I couldn't see any reason (perhaps apart from the pay) why GNR wouldn't be welcomed to play...

There track record of playing festivals? Leeds x 2, reading and rock in rio?
I hope they don't because Glastonbury is the arse end of no where full of people getting there selves wet over One Direction and cunts like that.
Hard rock Calling would be better!

Ah, the old "GN'R at festivals" misconception....
On the last tour: Hellfest, Gods Of Metal, Graspop Metal Meeting, See-Rock 2012, Green Fest, Tuborg GoldFest, Sofia Rocks 2012, Topfest PLUS, EXIT Festival and Costa de Fuego festival....
No incidents, just amazing gigs.

The Stones are rumoured to be playing their last ever show at this event, would love to see a colaberation with Sympathy for the Devil, the one cover I'd really love to see on the GnR "maybe we'll play it..." play list

I spoke with Michael Eavis 3-4-5 years back and he said he would never have GN'R at Glastonbury because of their reputation.
Whether that opinion will ever change, I do not know.

Non of them are in the UK. There is no chance GN'R being booked at Glastonbury. And as a huge fan I'm pleased it's not the correct place for them. And Hard Rock Calling is also a no go... They pulled the plug on Bruce Springsteen & Paul Mcartney before midnight.

UK festivals are different?
Anyway, how often do you see people say something that's based on something that happened years ago?
A good example of this is the Reading Festival. These people don't bother pointing out that the other UK shows went very well. As did all the 2012 UK shows...
Bruce getting the plug pulled was just unbelievable. Does it mean he shouldn't be booked at any UK festivals because he's "difficult"? Of course not.

Massive shame - I reckon GNR would be a huge hit at Glasto! Perhaps not 'big' enough to headline the pyramid stage but would certainly perform on it.... I reckon GNR have done enough recently to change peoples misconceptions on their timeliness etc.

I think the point here might be that GNR goes over better at the smaller festivals aimed at hard rock/heavy metal audiences, whether they're in the UK or not. Beyonce was a headliner at Glastonbury last year (or maybe year before?) so you have to ask yourself if that's really GNR's audience.

Glastonbury is a diverse festival that caters for nearly all music tastes - it is huge in terms of sheer size of the site, stages and popularity.
The Stones have been rumoured to play nearly every year so I will believe it when I see it.

Never ever dismiss anything. People can be influenced by the news of the day, and Guns right now should not be in anyone bad books after their most recent tours.

I could see a headlining spot on The Other Stage.. Iggy played it a while back and it was pretty awesome.

GN'R can play almost any kind of music festival. As long as there's some kind of rock element at it.
People do like to lump them with the heavy metal crowd, which I never really understood.
GN'R has more in common with the Rolling Stones than with Iron Maiden I think...

I agree that GNR has more in common with Rolling Stones, and maybe even more in common with Led Zeppelin and Humble Pie. But when u look at the context of the music/bands GNR was related to back in the early 90s, theyr image and the music itself, i can understand why they have been considered to be a heavy metal band, and i think they in some ways are. Some songs are heavy, others are pure rock n roll..
Back to topic.. The only band things about festivals is that the concerts often are shorter then at arena shows. But then there is lots of other nice thing about festivals! Im getting to old for (camping) festivals now. But i have really enjoyed the once ive been to..
