When did I dismiss it? I just felt it unlikely given the circumstances.
Dear Axl, can you please twitpic your medical certificate in order to placate so-called "fans" when you're sick from now on?

Awesome to see GN'R do this show. Great cause.
Axl did the show with a strep throat.
I don't know how he does it!
/jarmo
He didn't practice, and as a result his voice was shot.
See? I can throw out random ideas too.
Except that mine is likely closer to the truth.
I am just now reading this thread and, I am curious to know how is that whatever you are saying is closer to the truth
Who are you? Were you at the show? Have you gotten any real information from GNR camp? The answer is NO, so please keep your random ideas to yourself. An opinion or a real constructive criticism is one thing but please don't post something as it is a fact because you are really far from the truth. Also, if you are in this board just to talk shit, maybe you should look for another one where you can post what in your mind is the "truth".
When Jarmo posts any information regarding GNR, he is posting the "truth".
Beta
I wasn't posting it as truth.
I was showing that anyone can throw out random thoughts that can be passed off as truth.
I don't believe that Axl had a strep throat.
I think that he was not prepared for the show.
Why do I say this? Because it was the same at Rock in Rio 2011 - he clearly had not prepared and it was evident in his voice. That is why I feel I am 'more likely closer to the truth'.
I hope you don't take this to heart - I just feel that Axl is not preparing himself as well as he can.
And it hurts me as a fan because I want him to be the best he can be.
I can't even begin to fathom how asinine this is. How can you possibly dispute that he was sick? You have no basis to say that isn't true. That was the whole point of Beta's post. You have no clue, you're just disregarding this information from someone who would know a hell of a lot better than any of us simply because it doesn't fit into your narrative that if Axl doesn't sound good, it's because of a lack of preparation.
Ali
Ok then, but how can you say that he was sick?
Just because you have a lot of people saying the same thing doesn't make it true.
I merely suggested he hadn't prepared. Who is more likely to lie, someone who wants to defend someone close to them - or a fan who wants one of his idols to be at his best?
I'm not calling Beta a liar, I'm just saying that if I was her and Axl performed poorly, then I'd try and defend him as best I could.
You really do not know me. If Axl fucks up, he fucks up, period. FYI, during RIR Axl had 104f temperature and if you remember, we played under a lot of rain and lost more than half of our gear. You also should call hotel and ask name of the doctor that they called for Axl at the time, they love to give out information. You are just of one those people that love to shit on him and please don't call yourself a fan because that is the last thing you are. No matter what you say, they did an amazing thing and, judging any of the artist that were there, should be the last thing anyone should do because it was/is an amazing cause. If you have such a problem with Axl's voice, do us a favor, stop listening to him. There is nothing constructive coming for your post and, I am done talking to you, have a great day.

Jesus, does he have to provide a doctors note now? Even with the strep he sounded good. I don't even know why this is a conversation. Wish I could have been there. Can't wait till Vegas!

Beta, you don't have to waste your time with certain folk's, they only look for the negative in anything just to be a brat. Fuck them, don't waste your time answering to the haters. Some "fans" will never be happy, EVER. The vast majority support the band, Axl, you and the cause.
Kudos to you anyway Beta for the stuff you have done for the band, without you there would be no shows to bitch about by a handful of children
For the record, Beta has NEVER bullshitted me, more like the opposite, she was always forthcoming, open and honest any time I had the privilege to speak to her. There are very few of these kinds of people left on this planet, Beta is one of them and she should be respected for that alone.

I think this point is being overlooked by too many people. People are so focused on how Axl sounds, what he looks like, his workout regimen, what he does when he's not on stage. Lost in all the Monday Morning Quarterbacking is the fact that GNR was part of a GREAT cause. And I for one, could not be happier about that. Watching the videos of those kids, just shows you how tough they have it. And for a few nights, GNR was able to bring smiles to their faces and everyone seemed to enjoy the show. That's really the point of this whole thing. Not whether or not you believe Axl was sick, or ever gets sick. Not whether he doesn't care about the fans, or has poor conditioning. They were part of something amazing for two nights, and for that, I couldn't be more pleased.

Agree completely!
Thank you Axl for everything you've done with the band, historically and lately. Thanks Beta for checking in and putting some so-called "fans" in their place. Best of luck with the upcoming shows and events!
The only complaint I have, is that I too am in Australia and have to watch everything on Youtube etc, but I hope we'll get to see you guys here soon!

I think the band need to be given huge props for playing as well as they did acoustically. I've said this before but it can be really hard to make a song still sound powerful when done acoustically, and all the guys pulled it off. As soon as I saw Richard rocking the fuck outta Your Crazy, I knew the band was all going to be on top form.

I was at both shows, and they were great. Great cause, great atmosphere, great performances, everything. Highlights for me were Guns performance the second night, which was amazing, Jack White the first night and celebrating the SF Giants win with people on the lawn. It was really nice of the weather to hold the rain until I got to my car. No need to be negative about things

They played for the kids and they sure loved it much more then that nagging so called fans who wants more and everything better.
You don't hear the kids nagging because they can't have what the most people are having and getting or can do.
I love bands who are giving themselves for those kids who love some special time.
These kids appriciate it more and you get more love out of them, then out of nagging persons.
Enjoy life of what you get and don't expect more out of it.

gave us these shows, and the future TV interview, and of course the Vegas shows.
obrigado !

I love it when people try and score rock performances. This isn't gymnastics. Rock is about vibe, not achieving some perceived level of perfection.
Fanjudge - He scored a 9.5 on lyric delivery, but his rasp only garnered a 7...
