Thanks so much for that little clip. Axl with Neil, Dj holding that wonderful child, Ron and Jen on the side of the stage, Dizzy rockin. Damn love it!

Nearly every review of the Bridge School this year is the same. "Short on Thrills" is a popular one. I really think 'journalists' just recycle whatever the first review happens to be, no matter how cynical.

This was my first true Bridge School show (I went once before when I was around 10), and I can't understand the negative reviews. Everyone around me in the lawn was loving it, and the whole atmosphere was great. $5 for a lawnchair, with some Blue Moon brew, and perfect weather all night. I bought a ticket because of GN'R, but I loved the whole show. I had never heard of K.D. Lang, but she was amazing. Neal was great, and I think the only band that I didn't enjoy was Flaming Lips. But even they weren't offensive, just not my cup of tea.

I understand the nature of reviews, but something feels terribly wrong about being overly critical of a benefit show - where the musicians don't get paid - for kids. Negativity sells though.

Anyways, thanks to the whole band for performing, and working hard to make it memorable. You could tell they were happy to be there, and that power showed on stage. I loved it, the crowd seemed to love it, and they are the most talked about band of the weekend. Cheers  beer

I had never heard of K.D. Lang, but she was amazing.

Glad you enjoyed her, she's an awesome Canadian talent. Check out her performance of Hallelujah from the Winter Olympics -- simply spine-tingling:

What's the deal with Eddie Vedder? He just performed before Guns or did he played a song on stage with Guns?

Awesome to see GN'R do this show. Great cause.

Axl did the show with a strep throat.

I don't know how he does it!

/jarmo

He didn't practice, and as a result his voice was shot.

See? I can through out random ideas too.

Except that mine is likely closer to the truth.

I am just now reading this thread and, I am curious to know how is that whatever you are saying is closer to the truth Huh Huh Huh Who are you? Were you at the show? Have you gotten any real information from GNR camp? The answer is NO, so please keep your random ideas to yourself. An opinion or a real constructive criticism is one thing but please don't post something as it is a fact because you are really far from the truth. Also, if you are in this board just to talk shit, maybe you should look for another one where you can post what in your mind is the "truth".

When Jarmo posts any information regarding GNR, he is posting the "truth".

The person who posts as Beta sounds an awful lot like Jarmo. I really hope the entire Gnr camp is not so thin skinned and full of contempt for fans who love the band but also have opinions of their own. Yelling and cursing and being sarcastic, smug, or dismissive is not an effective way to prove a point. Love this board but wish we could raise the discourse beyond schoolyard bully mentality.

Scott

I am in no way defending the guy who said Axl didn't practice. Just a general feeling.

Why would Jarmo post under a different name ?  rofl never has.  Thin skinned ? Really ? Lets see how you would like someone making lies up about you ! year after year.  This shit gets old... I'm excited for what's up ahead.

Well several people have seen Beta and myself at the same place at the same time. So we're not the same person. Even on the Internet.  Grin

Bully mentality? That's exactly what people posting shit are doing. They make up shit, post it as fact and then ridicule the band and those who actually are real fans.

We're not into that. If it comes across as bullying, so be it. At least you know which side we're on.

I have my way with words, I'm aware that sometimes it may seem harsh and whatnot. But that's how I speak. Also, I've seen most things multiple times. All the lame insults, the attacks on the band and the pointless whining. We've seen it. Sorry if it's old to many of us by now, and we don't jump with you every time somebody finds yet another reason to whine about the band.

That's what I love:

The negative people want to post their same shit over and over and over. Not only that, but they want to pass their opinions off as fact. But the moment someone with actual knowledge of the situation comes online and posts something (Jarmo, Ron, Beta, etc) they MUST be lying. Makes total sense....or not.

/jarmo

I do respect this post alot to be fair, at least jarmo is admitting that sometimes his posts can come across as harsh. But that's only because of the fustration of seeing people attack the band for pointless reasons, all because they want something to moan about. I can see things from both sides, I can appreciate a real fan having a legitimate reason to worry when they are genuinely concerned about whatever "issue" with the band. But I can also appreciate that sometimes those reasons are fantasy, and posting all of this negativity when you don't know the facts, is extremely ignorant as you are basing your "truths" on something you know nothing about...

Respect to GN'R for doing this event, and for a cause which I don't think anyone can deny as being "worthy" of GN'R's time.  peace

Thanks for your post as well Beta... Smiley

wow,  what a GREAT couple of gigs - just brilliant from what I've seen - the interaction, the presence of the band onstage, the songs chosen - and the cause - full marks to all involved (thank you Neil, for another great event and putting together the BEST!)
Gotta say, that first night: jack white, eddie vedder, gn'r, neil young - THAT is something else... my dream line-up  drool

congrats to all, a brilliant charity event to support, and sounds and looks like everyone there had an absolute blast.

Get better soon Axl  beer  keep on rockin'...you know it  Grin  A few hot toddies may help  Wink (they always help IMO!)

Beta

I wasn't posting it as truth.

I was showing that anyone can throw out random thoughts that can be passed off as truth.

I don't believe that Axl had a strep throat.

I think that he was not prepared for the show.

Why do I say this? Because it was the same at Rock in Rio 2011 - he clearly had not prepared and it was evident in his voice. That is why I feel I am 'more likely closer to the truth'.

I hope you don't take this to heart - I just feel that Axl is not preparing himself as well as he can.

And it hurts me as a fan because I want him to be the best he can be.

I can't even begin to fathom how asinine this is.  How can you possibly dispute that he was sick?  You have no basis to say that isn't true.  That was the whole point of Beta's post.  You have no clue, you're just disregarding this information from someone who would know a hell of a lot better than any of us simply because it doesn't fit into your narrative that if Axl doesn't sound good, it's because of a lack of preparation.
