Am I correct to assume that the band has pretty much been touring since late 2009 (Japan?) with some breaks?
How would that compare (number of shows, etc) to that mega tour in the early 1990s?

First show for this line up was on December 11th, 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan at the Taipei City Stadium.

I believe since then the band has played 166 shows (unless I counted them wrong).

Being only 15 kast year the 2011 tour was the first time I got to see my favorite band Guns N' Roses! I went to the shows in NJ and Hartford and they were the best nights of my life! Everyone in the band did a fantastic job. Then the UCAP tour came back to New York and I went to the show at Terminal 5! It was about 20 degrees that night and I was waiting since 4:30 for 9:00 doors but it was 100% worth it as I was in the 2nd row of people in front of GN'R it was the greatest sight of my life. THANK YOU AXL, DJ, BUMBLEFOOT RICHARD, TOMMY, FRANK, DIZZY AND CHRIS GUNS N' ROSES. Hope to see you soon!!!!!!!!!! peace

Is that the mist shows by any one line up?

Getting closer, but the Appetite line-up had more shows (85-89).

The Appetite For Destruction tour had 150-160 shows (taking away the shows where Coury replaced Adler it's probably closer to 150).

Not sure how many shows pre-Appetite (85-86), around 30-40?

The top-10 band members in terms of no. of shows played:

01: Axl Rose (699).
02: Dizzy Reed (480).
03: Duff McKagan (412).
04: Slash (410).
05. Tommy Stinson and Chris Pitman (285).
07: Richard Fortus (281)
08: Izzy Stradlin (272).
09: Bumblefoot (258).
10: Frank Ferrer (241).

No. of (known) shows played in each year:

1985: 21
1986: 24
1987: 81
1988: 85
1989: 07
1990: 01
1991: 59
1992: 74
1993: 62
2001: 03
2002: 23
2006: 73
2007: 20
2009: 04
2010: 71
2011: 40
2012: 50

But since the setlists have grown steadily it might make more sense to look at number of songs played in each year, and then the 5 most intense years have been:

1: 2010 (at least 1369 songs played).
2: 2006 (at least 1286 songs played).
3: 2012 (at least 1211 songs played).
4: 1992 (at least 1022 songs played).
5: 2011 (at least 939 songs played).

Many thanks too GNR!

I went to RIR 2011, Chile and Miami Shows and they were great.

It has been amazing how the band changed their attitude and presence toward the fans and media.

Specially I would like to thank the band for this things that have changed:

1) Setlist: In the past we didn't have songs like Estranged on the setlist, no we DO!
2) Former members: We did not see DUFF and IZZY and now we can!!
3) Clothing: Even though its a stupid subject it is much cooler to see Axl dressed with jeans instead of a baseball or hockey shirt. I remember RIO 2001 and to see Robin with that gothic look was quite disturbing when compared to slash.
4) Web Page: The current web page rules. In the past we had gnronline.com with the famous word "SOON" and also gnfr.com with the chinese riddles which really sucked.
5) Public Exposure: In the past we had almost no news about the band. Now we are all connected through Facebook, twitter, etc and its cool to know what's going on.
6) Chinese Democracy: We have it finally. I'm pretty sure many of us who have waited since 2000 for Chinese Democracy really went crazy around year 2007 because of not having the disc yet.
7) Axl's Voice: In my opinion with rasp is better. In 2000-2002 he had no rasp and I didn't like it too much.
Cool Lawsuits & Management: I remember in the past the band always had legal problems or issues with his management ( I remember MR. Mercuriadis) Now there are no issues with that.

What I Would really like to happen:

9) The band to play again with former members such as Bucket, Robin and Slash: I just bought Slash's last album and believe when I tell you that the guy still has it. I have to admit that I prefer apocalyptic love over CD and I would love to see slash play again with Axl.
10) More discs to be released and performed Live: Axl is getting everyday older and I would really like to hear all the material he has before his voice decays.

What I would change:

11) I would have loved Axl to release Chinese Democracy on 1999 so I had more time listening to guns and Axl with a young voice.

Finally I would like to thank god for giving me the opportunity to listen to Guns N' Roses, by far the best band in the world!

In the past we had gnronline.com with the famous word "SOON" and also gnfr.com with the chinese riddles which really sucked.

GNRonline was, and is, the record company's GN'R web site.

GNFR.com had even less to do with Guns N' Roses. Nothing.

Why you need to mention it is just a mystery.

Somebody starts a web site aimed at confused GN'R fans, and you hold it against the band. Nice.

It's not a mystery. The facts I mentioned happened from 2001 until  2009-2010. If you check my post you will see I'm making a comparison between past aspects of the band and current ones which I personally think are much better.

I usually don't post on forums,  but because this thread is about thanking the band I wanted to say thanks and also remember a couple of facts I saw over the years.

You have misinterpreted me. I'm pointing that nowadays we have a great web page and that in the past older web pages such as gnronline.com or gnfr.com were not as good ( I don't know which one was official and which ones no)

Please read well my post. I'm not holding it against the band. I'm making a comparison. It would not be proper to say the band is guilty for past unofficial web sites. Also remember that from late 2002 until early 2006 ( correct me if I'm wrong) we had no news about the band so it was common to see  fans to trying to look for some information on different sites ( such as gnfr.com, sp1at, etc etc).

Take care and thank for your updates on concerts!

Ok.

Yes, it's true, that in the past there was no proper official web site and people were drawn to other sites to look for clues on when the album would come out.....
