I honestly don't think this is going to be all that great, and it's no secret that Axl doesn't regard these demos as anything special. This guy has had numerous attempts of releasing these blocked by officials, and he still is adamant to try to get around it.

It is a cool thing to be able to hear Axls' first ever known recorded vocals, but at the same time you have to respect the musician in question. And if Axl doesn't see the need for these to be available publicly, then I respect that.

the lawyer of Kevin put on a long update on their website:

http://rapidfire1983.com/

summary:
Axl camp doesnt want us to hear the demos, however its not Axl's demos but Kevin's, so just like the Hollywood Rose CD they "could" be released. but thats not to be done right now/in the near future and maybe never because chances are too high to loose lots of money by Axl camps' lawsuits.

Kevin is the guitarist, grounder and song writer from Rapidfire, the demos are his ones.

you've been soooo wrong  Wink

Rapidfire - Demos from 1983, the first ever Axl vocal demos are officially available since November 15, 2014 as digital downloads (mp3 - 320 kBit/s) on amazon for just 4,95 $ (!!!):

http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Rumble-Rapidfire/dp/B00OKGFKVO/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1416251959&sr=1-1&keywords=rapidfire

1) Ready to Rumble (3:18)
2) All Night Long (2:27)
3) Prowler (3:30)
4) On the Run (2:34)
5) Closure (2:40)

they're more like a garage band demos, but hell yeah.....young Axl voice = amazing!!!!!!!  Shocked
Next to the Hollywood Rose CD release, this is a very nice little peace in GN'R history as it shows the roots of Axl Rose and GN'R, and also are 5 complete "totally new(!!)" unheard songs with Bill Bailey singing on it!

Seems more realistically priced than Kevin's initial pitch over at MYGNR.

Well....

Dead Daiseys Nove 25th- Dec 7th
Hookers N Blow Jan 2nd-10th
Ron @ RnR Fantasy Camp Jan 15th-18th
& teaching in Corfu Aug 1st-8th
SixxAM Apr 8th-29th

Leaves open windows in 2015:

February-March
May-July
September-December

I was hoping for a couple new years shows this year, but the time is ticking away here for an announcement.

This is assuming GN'R would take these side projects into consideration when to release a new album. I'm not sure the record company would do that if their "optimal" release date would fall during let's say January.

Now we all know better...

« Reply #12 on: November 21, 2014, 06:59:17 AM »

I dont know if it will ever happen, but I would love to hear some of the unreleased recordings from the CD album recordings released in some way...   Dosnt have to be a tradtional 12 track album release either, mb just a 6 track downloadable version or something....   I would also love for it to be untouched...  By this I mean, who ever wrote the music at the time, (i.e robin, paul, bucket, etc  whoever...) leave there original stuff in...

I have just started listening to CD after giving it a bit of shelf time and I am really getting into a lot of the work put into it and I would love to hear more of the same, by the same people.   I am not a fan of every song on the album, but damn a lot of the tracks have some major legs and are still holding up years later, if not even sounding better in a day in age like now where there is little to no good guitar rock albums out there.   There are some tracks on CD that I have new found respect for the guitar work on and melodys.   Great stuff and I would love to hear more of this music from the time it was written.

I will also give Axl some props as well.  As much as people like to bust his balls for whatever reason.  He sure has a great ear for good guitar work and what a guns album should sound like.

Speaking of unreleased music, did anyone buy the Rapidfire release?  For $5 why not.  Not sure if we're allowed to talk about it here, but I think it's an interesting part of Axl's history.  To hear and see a tattoo-less Axl Rose singing (you can tell it's him but he hadn't really discovered his voice yet), is pretty cool.  The songs in general, IMO, are meh, but Axl really makes them listenable.

I wonder if he even knows these have been released.  He probably couldn't care less, but there was a lawsuit over them a year or so ago, right?

Your post inspired me to check it out Ginger King. He didn't really have that nasaly sound yet or his full rasp (two of his trademark singing techniques), I guess that stuff didn't come till later. He was still really good though. I was wondering if the guy that put it out owns some super successful porn company, why did he need to ask for charity to get the thing out there? Why not just throw it up on itunes and charge a little bit for it? I don't know the whole story but I was a little curious about that aspect of it.

I think if these tapes are good for anything it's analyzing Axl's voice. To get to where he was on these tapes must have really taken a lot. You have to push hard to get those full high and low yells he had going on. That's where most singers stop. Axl though, he pushes even harder to create a whole additional level beyond that kind of singing. Whenever I try to make an Axl raspy voice I can feel blood rushing to my face and feel like I'm going to pass out. The fact that he can do it rather consistently for long periods of time while dancing and running around without fainting or having a brain aneurysm  is really amazing. The man is a true athlete.

Oh, its a whole ordeal.

One of the dudes from this band from 1983 has been trying to get this out for years.  He paid all this money to get them all remastered and whatnot.

He then tried a Kickstarter campaign, which was a fiasco.  Wanted $50 which got you a 5 song EP.  Tries to plug it on MYGNR, total disaster.  He gets snippy, the people turn on him, the campaign is a horrible failure.  He then relents to selling it at a more reasonable price on Amazon.

Here's the thing.  Axl has blocked this for years.  This rockhead does not fucking learn.  He has a manifesto on his site about how he knows Axl has no legal claim (nevermind the fact that Axl's lawyers have succeeded at every turn).

Now, its happened again, and it been pulled from Amazon.

Was there a reason why Axl has been unwilling in letting this guy go ahead?

I'm guessing no? haha

I can't say I blame him.

This guy's only hook is having one of the biggest rock stars of his generation in his shitty garage band 30 years ago.  I can understand Axl not wanting his name on it.

I dont blame Axl at all for not wanting this out.  Even though I doubt he even cares and its probably just the people in his business blocking the release.

Whatever

This guy trying to get it released should just let it go..   What is his end game here?  Is he thinking he is going to get rich or something?  I am sure Axl could of bought the master recordings for the amount of cost he as put into lawyers and I dont even think he has spent that much on legal costs over this.   Hell I bet I could even buy these master recordings..

Sounds like a guy trying to live off of the success of others.
