Okay I am confused. I came to all the message boards right after CD was released and Prostitute was roundly considered one of the WEAKEST tracks on the album.  I asked folks to give it another try, check out those bad ass solos etc...

When Axl said something about how if folks didn't like CD then they weren't going to like the next album either most GNR fans said they like it just fine EXCEPT prostitute!  The most common comment went something like this; The last track of the album is usually an indicator of the direction the next album will go, after listening to Prostitute I'm not too excited about CDII.  And I was constantly making the following argument; Prostitute is the one song that MOST represents CD, you have to let it play a few times and then one day you will realize that what you are listening to is so far beyond any of the garbage that's been released in the past 15 years.   I usually got a bunch of yeah maybes or "it's okay man, no reason to be apologist, it's a great album anyways"...blah blah blah

Now Cage says he likes the song and all of the sudden everybody wants a fucking single.  I love the guy to death, his horrible decisions and screwed up way of thinking is WHAT I like about him, but let's not all sit here acting like he's some public fucking voice we all needed to finally get Prostitute the recognition it deserves.  hell. most of ya are still waiting for the video to Better-IMO one of the WEAKEST songs on the entire CD

As usual, anyone who says" gnr is great" then is cool & great too.

And as usual, anyone who says the opposite is cool and "objective".

Stop whining.

You know what i mean & i'm not whining. Just wonder what would happen if Justin Bieber shew up with a gnr shirt.  ok

People can say whatever they want, and so  do I, but lickin people asses by all means it's one of those things i can't deal with

It would mean the guy has some taste. Just like in this case.

I happen to think Prostitute is great. If Nicolas Cage agrees, cool. If not, oh well.

Doesn't fucking bother me to the point that I have to point out how "silly" it is when so called famous people like GN'R and fans are happy about it.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not suggesting that anybody likes the song just because Cage mentioned it.  The poll shows that it is currently one of the most popular tracks amongst GNR fans.  The key word is "currently" in the first few months to a year after release it was overshadowed by This I Love, Sorry, Catcher(I get it but YAWN) Better and to some extent TWAT.  My issue is everybody acting like Prostitute was THE song we've all been waiting to get its due since Nov two thousand fucking eight! A lot of us liked the damn song, but a celebrity mentions it and all of the sudden we ALL like it and worse we all act like it's ALWAYS been one of our favs.  It was one of my favs and I guess I could say I told you so but then I'd look just as pathetic because some actor agreeing with me doesn't make me right!

Business as usual.

Often somebody needs to "approve" something before it's ok to admit that you like it.

A journalist, a blogger, a newspaper, a celebrity etc.

Doesn't matter if it's a band, a song, a movie, a restaurant or what. If the "right" person says they like it, suddenly it's ok to say the same.

I remember Axl talking that if he ever made a solo album, it might be instrumental-the ending of Prostitute is brilliant-I hope the next album has more like it-it's not really a ballad, and not really heavy-hard to classify, like Estranged.

I personally think Rhiad could have been one of the best GNR songs ever.  Final product was a bit much but the old raw leak was one bad SOB, too bad the recording was such poor quality.  As for TWAT, the leaked version of it was definitely one of the best GNR songs ever.  TWAT still gets a little love but I don't know what folks have against Rhiad.  What am I even rambling about...

Prostitute was the song that sold me on CD. The first time I heard it I was blown away, and it was brilliant then and it is now. I've always loved it and thought of it as not only the best song on CD, but one of the best GNR songs period. I don't remember anyone saying it was weak. They're weak if they believe that!
