I just want to give a thanks to Thin Lizzy, who have been absolutely amazing on this tour with GN'R. Seen them in Dublin, Nottingham, Newcastle and last night in Birmingham, and they have always got the crowd pumped more than any other opening band for GN'R in my view. Most of their set are hits that people know straight away, and it set's up the stage for GN'R very nicely.

The newest guitarist who took over from 4tus in Thin Lizzy, Damon Johnson. Gave me and a few other GN'R fans guitar picks in Newcastle as we was waiting outside the venue. He just said "hey guys, I should have some guitar picks in here", and took out a bag of picks, and gave everyone one.

A total class act... Cool

And it's a honour to see 4tus up onstage with them everynight as well. (except Dublin)  drool

Great show in Birmingham, very loud to start, but the mix was sweet by the end.

Thin Lizzy 8:30 - 21:40
Guns N Roses 10:20 - 1:20

The new version of Patience including the jam at the beginning was wonderful. Just after Lizzy had finished, around 20 models with VIP passes walked through the area under the stands to their seats in which you see DJ climbing up in Nightrain to serenade them. I've read about these models before at previous dates on the UK tour. Why are they there? Are they just there to look pretty? Because for most of the show they didnt look that entertained.

Best time I have had at a gig for ages....well since the last one!

Cheers to One in a Million, Jarmo, Adz, BabyDolls and everyone else I hung out with. The band were on fire. Richard especially blew me away. Ron, cheers for hanging out despite distractions and meeting a few of us - you are a legend.

Roll on 02 . see you all there.

Great night - they fkn rocked Birmingham!  Sound was really loud, but clear (better that Notts).  Seemed to be a lot of good fans in the front where we were.  I was kind of delighted by the pack of 10/13 yr old kids in the mosh pit - they were having such a good time!  They created little mosh areas - didnt bother anyone else and just seemed to be loving it.  They all went crazy for Better and were really into the guitar solo's (esp Richard).  They were trying to get one of their mates up to crowd surf during The Blues (i think), all good fun - and nothing like the usual weight or nakedness  Lips Sealed of crowd surfers I've had the displeasure of experiencing!  I was thinking God if I'd had the chance to see GnR perform like that when I was their age, i'd be SO inspired.  (I'm still inspired seeing them at my age!)

Thanks to all I met and hung out with - love my fellow Guns gang!  peace  Nearly caught a dj pick in my mouth... hihi  it hit me on the chin and sadly swerved away and I lost it in the confetti..  Sad  Highlights for me were Estranged, Better and You Could Be Mine (complete with the "with your ass in the air" line!).  Also Axl sounded amazing at the end of KOHD - his voice was excellent and he looked really happy.  Will post a few pics later.

Love for GN'R since 1987, whatever the line-up

« Reply #96 on: May 28, 2012, 01:33:06 PM »

Superb show, better than Nottingham for me, the band seemed tight and for me are easily the best live band on the planet at the mo, maybe if the press stopped being so negative towards the band they would see what they have to offer.
I saw Frank walking through the crowd during Thin Lizzy with his Bon Scott hoodie but he'd gone before i had chance to grab him for a photo.
They came on stage a little bit earlier than expected, I heard people talking on the train to the venue saying that they wouldn't be on until 10.45 so i was surprised when they came on at at 10.20pm.
Axl seemed in a good mood, After This I Love he made some comment about hitting the note at the end of the song and normally having to lean on a wall after he has sung it?
I was really pleased they played patience, Last time i heard it live was Sheffield 2006 and in the 3 shows i have seen since then they have missed it out the set but its a great song and should be in the set all the time for me.
I loved how during Whole Lotta Rosie the screens seemed to show a 'large' lady in the crowd, not that she seemed to care but it was funny.
Highlights for me were Patience, Civil War and YCBM although the set was pretty much faultless.

Thin Lizzy are doing a great job on this tour of warming the crowd up, best support band i have ever seen, pure rock n' roll with lots of energy.

One negative thing, and i noticed this in Nottingham last week too is that there seemed to be a lot of people in the crowd who weren't interested in the band. After me and my friends got a nice spot with a good view of the stage, some idiots pushed in front of us as soon as GN'R came on blocking our view. I apreciate its a rock show and people can stand where they want but the people that do this always seem to be the same type of people? In Nottingham it was a couple who pushed in as Welcome to the jungle started, was jumping up and down and shouting the words then didnt seem to know any of the other songs and spent the rest off the gig talking then in brum a group of lads pushed in and spent the gig taking photos of each other, i swear 1 of them didn't even face the stage for the 1st hour? about half way through i went to the toilet and saw them wrestling each other outside the toilet, why pay money if you have no interest in seeing the band?

Sorry for my rant, just wanted to get it off my chest. Apart from that I loved both gigs I went to and am looking forward to Manchester tomorrow, hope we get something special like a new song or a rare gem?

Rock On Gunners!!!

Another amazing UK show.

Possibly the best so far!

Seen GN'R in Birmingham three times now and all shows have been awesome.

It's great to see that Guns have now got to the point where they have re-established themselves and most of the crowd know all the words to the new songs and cheer for them just as much/even more than the oldies! The band are the most comfortable I've ever seen, back in 2002 and 2006, they were still settling in, but now they are on top form!
It's a shame they won't play unreleased material for fear of mass bootlegging, but I'm quite excited to hear what they come up with next, especially when listening the songs DJ Ashba did with Sixx:AM!
