What IF:

Guns N' Roses releases a song that:

- Is written with Izzy's help
- Has the current band on it, but not Izzy

/jarmo

That would be beautiful, Jarmo, a dream come true.

And what if that song sucks?  Grin

Impossible.

The way you feel about Izzy, is how most of us feel about GN'R. We don't assume something they will release will automatically suck.

Of all the songs they have ever released, I don't hate any. Some are my favorites, some are not. But nothing has been so horrible that I can't listen to it.

/jarmo

Sounds like someone’s copy of UYI2 miraculously ends with Don’t Cry.  peace hihi

Atlas incoming (as a live track anyway)?

Fortus gave a little hint on his Instagram, regarding having a Sitar pedal for this tour. Someone asked him if it was for Pretty Tied Up, and his reply was "and something else you don't know about."

Maybe one day you can get excited about something without Izzy's involvement.

I wonder how you would react if the band had a song that Izzy helped write, but doesn't play on and isn't in the band.

That would be amazing.  I can't fathom who would be against at least giving it a listen.

Best of both worlds, to be honest.

Izzy the songwriter is solid.  Izzy the guitarist is a guy who had his amps turned down *by his own band*.

Dude, that's insanity.  Seems an oddly specific hill to die on.

Not AS excited about it w/o him?  OK.

But not at all?  That, I don't get.

Sooooooo new music is coming.
GNR fanbase is weird or maybe its just t'internet.

When they released hard skool my reaction was "WOW this is a massive improvement on the rough mix leak and slash makes everything better...."

meanwhile some absolute bellend was like "I FEEL PERSOANLLY CHEATED AXL RELEASED A SONG HE DIDN'T WRITE LAST NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT JSUT FOR ME" November Rain was written in a bin in LA in around 1920 and released several decades later (actual fact from Canter's diaries)

We'll get some new songs they will sound fucking unreal ... meanwhile someone somewhere will take a break from wanking into a sock in his mam's boxroom to post "if you listen with professional headphones and foresically examine  the sound quality at exactly 92 seconds of the new track you'll find the kazoo is slighly muffled... therefore this new release is NULL and VOID!"

GET IN THE FUCKING SEA!

No seriously

GET. IN. THE. FUCKING. SEA!!!

I just think it is unfair for Izzy, and they could release an ultimate GNR album if they were all together again

i Just hope new music is not Slash playing on Chinese Democracy unreleased tracks... that would suck

what do you guys think?=

My preference is for GNR to keep clearing the Chinese era vault and release everything they deem worth releasing before they even begin to start writing from scratch.  Once again that’s my preference , if they put out a new album tomorrow based solely on brand new ideas in 2023 I’d be ecstatic as well.

I’m of the opinion that a new song is a new song regardless of when it was written.  Absurd and Hard Skool are both GNR songs that were brand new when they came out in 2021.

Also I am genuinely confused by the Izzy thing, he hasn’t been in the band in 32 years.  He voluntarily quit and doesn’t seem like someone interested in being in a band, does he ?

Still Izzy s contribution in GNR is central and undeniable.... he is a great writer and musician,  and axl keep adding his songs to the setlist, then i think a lot of GNR will be missed in a new GNR album without izzy...

I think the guys just betrayed Izzy.

I think Izzy isn't there because he doesn't want to be, not that the door is closed.  But that's an interesting thought.  Izzy could be on the writing team.  He might like that.

Izzy was offered a spot back in the band and on the tour back when this whole thing started.

He chose not to come back.  From the sounds of things, it was a financial disagreement but, either way, it was his choice.

If Izzy being a part of GnR is the deal breaker for someone...that tells me they are an Izzy fan, not a GnR fan.  And that's fair. People can like or not like what they want.

I don't think it's a deal breaker for most people.  And, at this point, I don't see anything changing any time in the near future.
