Yeah.

And once again, the ones loudest ones demanding new music, if they go to the shows, they point out how they didn't like when the band played the two latest singles.

This is usually the case when something new/different/unfamiliar is presented. Most acts who play shows, when they play something new, it's usually met with a different kind of response compared to the familiar material.

Saw the Rolling Stones play an amazing show a few days ago. They have plenty of old familiar songs to choose from and they played Living in a Ghost Town in the set.

Prove that bolded part. That is just a strawman you created to criticize people who want new music.

LOL.

It's called having experience from the Internet GN'R fans for over 25 years. Wink

I do find some humor in the fact that people claim to want something and when they get it they are like "Well, this isn't what I wanted".

Making general statements like wanting new music is just something people throw out to have something to say, Nothing more. I'd love to hear new GN'R music, whenever and whatever the band releases.  Smiley

It's fine if someone wants another Appetite. That's down to personal taste. But if that's what they want, why not say it? Instead of "I want new music" and then going on and on about how they don't like Hard Skool because it's not what they envisioned new music to be. That's on them....  beer

I agree with what you say to an extent, but you can’t tar everyone with the same brush. There’ll always be an idiot complaining whenever anything is released. Most fans will be truly appreciative and over the moon with anything new from GnR. The trouble with the internet is that it amplifies the banal and puerile ramblings of an idiotic few. Sometimes I fear the band sees that and lumps all fans into the same category as ungrateful, undeserving and entitled. Thankfully, most of us that visit the boards do so out of love for this band and their music.

I know. I made a generalization. There's certain comments you see over and over again through the years.

Some wanted a reunion and when it happened, they found something about it they didn't like. Etc. etc.

I've also seen people comment on how great the shows were in 2006. Yeah, some of us were there enjoying them instead of whining about "it not being GN'R"... Wink

The one certain thing you get out of it all is that you can't please everyone.

So either enjoy what we have/get, or don't. Chances are those who choose not to, might look back at something years later and realize it wasn't so bad after all.... Or there was something cool about it. Smiley

Just seems a damn same that 99% of GnR fans suffer due to the online ramblings of trolls  Undecided

I don't think most fans suffer because of the trolls. For example the fans who go to shows don't necessarily read the comments from those who weren't there on social media.

The only problem with this kind of behavior, which isn't anything GN'R specific, is that it breeds more of the same. Attention seekers crave attention and when they get it, it just fuels them.

Anyway.... I don't think anyone expected people who always find something to be unhappy about to actually like something GN'R did. Especially a song called Absurd that doesn't sound like AFD/UYI....  hihi

Love ‘em both to be honest. Axl did say that the next record would be darker and meaner, albeit that was a long time ago. I’d hate the band to try and create another AFD. That time has passed, the band has matured and the world is a different place now. I have to say, I listen to the locker leaks on a regular basis and some of those instrumentals are freaking amazingly good. Zodiac, Me and My Elvis and D Tune to name but a few. If that’s what we can expect to come (*hopefully*) then I will be one happy MF 😎😆

I don't want to listen to the leaks just yet.  I guess I should but I thought we would get them by now.  It was kind of a bummer when CD came out and I was going, yep I know these songs.  It was like not getting something new when everybody else did.  They wanted to talk about it and I'd already said everything I wanted to say.   hihi

I agree the leaks are not worth listening to in that it takes all the mystery out of a new album. beer

In reference to those bitching, I have a particular opinion.  It's why I stopped arguing with them:

You say I walk a line
Fuck they move it every time
You walk a mile in my shoes
And then you tell me 'bout singin' the blues

or, to paraphrase Bob The Bard

"The goalposts they are a-changin'"

They will never be happy.  No matter what happens, they will just move the goalpost down field. Pre-reunion GNR? Bitch. CD release? Bitch. Reunited GnR? Bitch. Hell, some of them disappeared for a good period of time because they knew if they bitched they'd get laughed off the board. But eventually....? New music from Gnr? Bitch.  You could give them anything/everything they ask about/for, and they will find a reason to hate it, or demand more, or demand different, or....whatever.  They wallow in the misery like pigs in the mud.

If that makes them happy, who am I to rob them of their illusions?  Let 'em listen to locomotive on repeat and wallow away.

You can't say that!  hihi

Observing and commenting on these things makes you the uncool loser fanboy!

Pointing out that personal expectations, often not based on realistic ideas, that aren't necessarily gonna become true, is mean. Things like, "I wish they'd stop touring so they would record a new album" or "wish they'd release a new album so the setlist would change".

Anyway, the Latin American tour is about to start. Last time they toured down there was five years ago. For most fans there, if they get to hear Absurd and Hard Skool, that's new music.  ok

I think we all can say that.   hihi  And I do but then, damn it, I like this band and their music.  I forget to remain rational and my hopes and heart kick in.  And you get sucked back in.   hihi  Always fun to cheer for the unlikely.

S AM has the best fans.  I'm interested in seeing their reaction to Absurd.  Hard Skool will go over just fine.

And I'll just end that there because I said I wasn't going to say any more about that other thing but I can think it.   hihi

You are straight up huffing paint if you don't see a marked improvement in the mood of GNR fandom from 4/1/16 onwards.

I know you had to pretend the Island Of Misfit Toys line-ups was the best thing going, but we didn't have that same incentive.  So that's why people could not share your apparent delight.

Since the reunion, they got out of playing "up close and personal" venues into stadiums and people have gone to see them every time they came through their town.

The 2 NITL shows I went to were nothing but happy folks.  And for the first time in over 20 years, there were a lot of them in a big building.

Things are good these days.  If you feel the need to find the 3 people out 100 GNR fans that are not happy so you can go "see?"...that's on you.

I'd argue that the bigger picture is that it's only 3 out of 100.  As opposed to the 85 out of 100 it was from 2001-2015.

Their fans do seem nuts.  I don't know I could sign on to all the chanting, personally, but that energy is crazy.

The best crowd on bootlegs are in SA.

Did I say something like that? I said some people will always find something to whine about.

Don't recall saying anything about the number of those people in 2014 vs 2022....

I know you had to pretend the Island Of Misfit Toys line-ups was the best thing going, but we didn't have that same incentive.  So that's why people could not share your apparent delight.

Well, sucks to be them. I had fun attending shows in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 , 201... Well you get the picture..

Since the reunion, they got out of playing "up close and personal" venues into stadiums and people have gone to see them every time they came through their town.

You mean like the Apollo and Palladium, or Hard Rock Casino?

The 2 NITL shows I went to were nothing but happy folks.  And for the first time in over 20 years, there were a lot of them in a big building.

That's great. And it's still the case. People at the shows seem to leave happy. But if you read some random comments, you'd think the opposite was true. Funny that...

Things are good these days.

Yes. And yet some things don't change. But, what can you do?  hihi
