I'm pumped by the release of Absurd, I love the track. In terms of an album I think we need to move away from worrying about who wrote the songs or when they were written. I want the band to put out the album that they are happy with so we can just enjoy it. Here's hoping they can keep this momentum up.

https://platekompaniet.no/vinyl/nytt-album-lp-guns-n-roses-93399ca4/

It says "New album coming?"

Could very well be that they're guessing. At the same time, there are very few artists they've done this with: https://platekompaniet.no/produktserie/kommende-album/?filter.Facets%5Btopcategoryname%5D=VINYL

Do record shops normally have an *in* with the record companies, giving them early hints?

Two singles are out... Argument an album's on the way is stronger than before.

Not to throw fuel on the fire but a google translate reveals the page says:

Could this just be them getting some Hard Skool stock?

Maybe... but two things:

1. The Hard Skool EP is exclusive to GN'Rs own merchandise store, isn't it?
2. The cover and tracklisting for the EP has been published.

Agree with Spirit here, i dont think this is the 7". It says LP, that means Longplay.. it also says album. If this is refering to the Hard skool release they have all the spesifications wrong

They could just be massively speculating on an upcoming release based on Slash and Duff’s comments these last few years I guess. But there’s still a little part of my daring to believe that we won’t be waiting until this time next year for a new record

I e-mailed the retailer asking if this was based on just rumors, the response:

"It's not vague rumors entirely, but we don't have any concrete information besides there likely will be an album next year.

Our watchlists are only created when there's a predominant likelihood it'll be available within a short timeframe".

Hard to say. They said it was not based on just rumors.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but when they said "we don't have any concrete information besides there likely...", it could be a case where they've gotten "off the record" info from the label - info they publicly can't say they've gotten.

"Concrete information" could be album name, exact release date, track listing...

They went out of their way specifying they don't create such watchlist items unless there's something substantial. The list of items on their site with such status is quite short.

I'll be honest I have actively been waiting for the Axl, Slash, and Duff follow up to UYI since 1994. I can't exactly tell you the probably thousands of times I walked into Record Town, Tower Records, Sam Goody, Strawberries, Newbury Comics, mom and pop shops, Best Buy, etc... and asked to see release lists and ordering books... spoke with "important regional managers" who know the Geffen Guys, or have contacts at interscope, know some one at Universal, or spoke to a guy who slept with a girl that works in the art department for Sanctuary...

It is always bullshit. Even the people that are "close" make such a general guess that if anything happens they can say "remember when I told you that sometime between now and when it comes out, a single or EP maybe LP will release with that thing they played that one night and oh ya there's an Elton John cover" (because they remember he was an Elton/Bernie Taupin fan)... Then suddenly Harskool comes out with Absurd and 2 live tracks, and the guy is like "I told you eventually something was coming out, the Elton John thing didn't make it because I heard they couldn't secure the rights" or "Axl couldn't record vocals because a throat guy I know says he has tired vocal cords from touring since 2016"

The truth of the matter is "The Retailer" isn't getting any info on this stuff. If something comes out it will be digital streaming first because as I've said before the numbers say that streaming makes up 80% of the total market, then the 20% is split between CD, Vinyl, Cassette, digital download (like iTunes). This isn't the 1990's and early 00's where CD and brick and mortar ruled. You will know from IG/Twitter direct from the band and individual members that something is coming at the same time or before the retailers.

New interview with Slash about the SMKC album. He says SMKC doesn't plan to tour (in Europe, at least) until early 2023. Just something to think about for those saying SMKC ruled out a Guns album in 2022.

Dexter: New Blood, Nov. 7th.  Return of Dexter, could make something of that.
