I think anyone suggesting a tour anytime soon needs a reality check - fast
Absolutely. GNR need to reach out to fans though asap and let them know what's going on with their money now.

Could a Guns N’ Roses new album, have the same impact as Tiger King did for Netflix? Discuss.

I honestly have given up hope on new material. I think GNR can be considered a touring band, like Queen. Better than in the early 2000;s but not like their heyday, 1987-1993.

Sure would and could. GNR could do a lot of things but won’t. There is no new album though. It’s a touring band that absolutely kills it. We would all love a new album and a fitting next chapter but it just won’t happen. Would love to see them go the route of The Rolling Stones and continue to release good material but it is not in the cards...

I highly, highly doubt it. Despite all of our admiration for GN'R, they haven't been relevant on a pop-culture sense since the early 90's. Despite selling out stadiums, when the Rolling Stones release new material, it does not blow up the charts. The state of music today is not like it was during the MTV era, or even in the early 2000s. The vast amount of fame is monopolized by younger/current pop-stars, or by gimmick songs such as "All About The Bass" or "Old Town Road". I do believe GN'R is very capable of releasing high quality new music that I will enjoy, I just doubt they will release something that will be a chart topping hit, as that seems to be the territory of those catering to the younger generations, of which I find it hard some guys in their 50's who just made their second round of $$$$$$$$$ and haven't lived as street urchins since about 1986, will be able to release music that generation will relate to emphatically. Would love to be wrong.

Well, Tool and Metallica earned the #1 spot on Billboard with their last efforts. Given the rise in popularity since the reunion, I don't see why GN'R can't accomplish the same.

I guess it comes down to semantics. I don't doubt that a new release could sell well enough to make #1 for its debut week. I was doubting the question of it would have an impact on the scale of "Tiger King". I see memes and news articles everyday about that show. Co-workers have brought it up out the blue. There are references all over pop culture. I'm just not sure a new GN'R release would be of that scale pop culturally.

Exactly. Fear that the album won't sell well should not be the
excuse
reason why there's no new music. Unfortunately, all of my "stay positive" energy is focused on the pandemic...so I'm now back to we're not getting a new album, and it's not because of COVID, the state of the music industry, record companies, how people consume music, the artwork of the album, etc., etc.

It's the same old song and dance, talk about new album, time passes no new album. I really believe GNR is a touring band

Looks like Tool is working on a new EP, and the Smashing Pumpkins will be releasing a double album.

Can't say if this is Fernando for real, but this got posted on reddit today:

It’s coming along. This pandemic and the moving of our dates and the replanning of our 2020 year took priority here. I know it’s a long ask, but we are close.

No. Danny Carey wants to work on new music, or hopes to.

Well, that is heartening. Slash's comments were vague enough that they could have been "recording" ideas and not actually tracking an album.

Couldn't the EP be "new music"? Don't understand what you mean here...
