I dunno. Climate change is out of my control, but it also still frustrates me.  I think that's just human nature.

That's good. It's actually something that affects all of us. And we can all do something about it. However small the contribution.

Yes, I still listen to Chinese Democracy.  Mostly the rawer Zutaut leaks as of late, but yes I still listen to it.

So you listen to it, but mostly leaks that weren't released by the band.

There lies another "issue". What if they release songs that you already heard (flashback to the Chinese Democracy release experience!)?

/jarmo

I would not care one bit, I'd just be utterly thrilled they were putting out an album.

I think anyone who would be foolish enough to nitpick bc, say, Hardschool appears on the record would be such an undetectable minority it wouldn't even matter.  I think the vast majority would be screaming for joy.

I don't think the band should consider any 'heard' material as an issue this time around. The spread was a lot less and well contained, and, if anything, the feedback could be considered a positive.

The hysteria around CD pushed expectation to another level, and it's release has put that to rest.  Most people I know have not listened to them and a lot of them aren't even aware of them.

The band should just concentrate on getting release cycles up and running and just move forward with whatever plan suits them and Uni. Although, as I said before, too much happening the next three months and it is not a good time. I think Uni are gearing up for Lady Gaga. I think releasing a song during the SA tour would be a good move, then find a gap in the year to release an album. For ticket sales, the band will need to show their hand earlier rather than later.

The first tour was a must see event - they were back together when nobody thought it would happen.

A release after that tour of new material would have cemented their status as being a relevant musical creative force again - basically picking up where they left off 30 years ago. If something were created and allowed to be listened to for a year or so before doing another huge tour, one has to believe it could've brought a whole new generation of fans into the mix.

With nothing new - you are more or less asking the same folks who spent big $ a couple of years ago to dish it out again and that is a tough decision considering the music they are playing on these tours is so old and it's not a stretch to suggest that the majority of the folks who would go to the shows again are also not exactly spring chickens here...a little tougher to pull the trigger on a concert like this than it was when I saw them with Metallica and Faith No More back in the day.

Yep.

Yep.

It's a hard sell to ask longtime GNR fans to by tickets because maybe, just maybe, at some point in between tour legs they'll drop an album and play some new music.  It's what's kept me and I know many others from buying tickets...so far.

You could turn that into a positive though.

I know when the topic of leaks come up around here, we are all supposed to look at our shoes and play dumb.  But the reality is that most of us have heard them.  And from what I have seen, most of us like them.

So if you were already digging 'Atlas Shrugged', are you more or less excited to hear Slash on a newer version?

Plus, we have only had these leaks a short time.  We had YEARS with the CD leaks.  So we aren't as married to these most recent ones.

I, for one, cannot f*cking wait to hear Slash on Hardschool.  The fact that it was on their setlists last fall basically makes it a given for the next album.  Robin's intro was cool, but Slash could turn that shit into the next YCBM.

Would certainly be fitting to have Slash play on the lyrical "sequel" to Estranged.  ok

Damn, so the problem is worldwide.

Many of the cds i ordered through my local records store last year many came 1-2 weeks late.

Last one was the new The Who cd

A little offtopic but what a great album! I had to say it.
Yes! Very good. Best album of 2019!

It's one thing for Slash to play CD songs live, it could very well be a different animal asking him to play on or re-do parts to record songs that were started, generated and composed by other players. IDK, I think he may have a problem with that.

Unless they are planning on putting out something like a triple album that just records everything out there - stuff back in the day that they never finished, the CD era songs that never got finished, and then the new stuff.

Would love it

In all honesty, I don’t get the infatuation with needing to hear Slash play on certain songs from CD era.  He’s not going to necessarily make them better.  I mean, on some of the leaks with Buckethead, he absolutely kills it.  I don’t think it would happen for multiple reasons, but I would enjoy keeping Bucket on some of those songs.  And the fact that his parts will more then likely be redone for legal reasons, I’m going to cherish those leaks.

Does anyone know how that works?  Could Axl still release music with Buckethead on it?  Or would Axl have Buckets parts redone so essentially he doesn’t have to pay him, and there’s no strings attached?  And if that happened, doesn’t Bucket still heavily influence the song even though Slash is used on a re-recording?

Considering that he made Better better... yeah..I want Slash to play on them. Sure, TIL solo is Robin's and Robin's alone, and buckethead owns Twat and Madagascar, but that doesnt mean we can't have both worlds. Actually we may just get both worlds, with the leaks and a new album.

I only wish Slash was involved with the original Maddy recording - as he may have had the influence to stop Axl from making an otherwise beautiful melody and intense epic song into a bad trip to the movies. (God I hate the talking in the middle)

I agree, I actually didn’t like any of slash’s solos for CD stuff when I saw them. Part of that could be that he was still feeling out where to go with it, but for me there was some feeling missing from the playing there. It was a solo to just exist as a solo but without the heart.
