Yes. A producer leaking clips would probably be looking for a new project to work on pretty soon....

All I know is, while it sounds like this could came out interesting, I have no desire on get to know more about it. Not only the guy is trying to grab as much attention with that misunderstood as possible, but he is still is using the stunt to avoid clarification.

Talking to Stephen now, and its nothing so intentional. Sounds like he honestly had no idea it had blown up. I've pointed him here, and to mygnr. He's going to chime in somewhere and tell the story of the tracks. He's explained a bit to me...its interesting. Smiley But i will let him tell his tale!

Edit: he wants to do it at mygnr because of the "fake" stephen posting there.

If your music sounds so close to another band that you can pass it off as them, I don't know why you're bothering to make music.

In our conversations....there was a set purpose to the creation that was more creative than commercial. But again, i'll let him explain when he can and i'll stop commenting until he does, because I hate being cryptic, but don't think it would be fair to him to say anymore.

I would say give him the benefit of the doubt til you hear the whole story. The guy really had no idea this was all going on, based on some instagram posts, "behind the scenes", til i pointed him to these threads earlier today.

He really seems like a nice guy, and a HUGE gnr fan.

I posted a thread over in Bad Obsession that links the full track we were discussing last week, if anyone wants to hear it.

At this point, Slash would have to be open to adding some guitar to songs Axl has already created. And Axl would need to be open to singing on some straight ahead Slash-style rockers.

Totally agree. Axl is a master in putting together big epic songs, with great and profound lyrics, but IMO has failed big time on the rockers.

Aside from Chinese Democracy, which is a decent song, but far from a classic, all the other rockers on CD suck.

On the other hand, Slash has created great riffs and rock songs over the years, especially on his 3 more recent efforts. Axl could bring those ideas to another level.

That's not what I was saying, for the record. In my opinion, there are phenomenal rockers on Chinese Democracy, and mega epic songs.

I imagine, acknowledging that I'm not part of the process, that Axl & Slash would need to enter the studio with open minds and flexibility.

I wouldn't change a thing with Chinese Democracy. I fully appreciate the time and energy Axl spent on making that record. Second best record of all time in my world behind AFD.

Yeah, I know that was not what you said. That was my opinion. I just think that Slash and Axl could complement each other better.

Now that I've listened to it several times, I just think songs like Rhiad, Shackler's, Scrapped and IRS are forgettable songs.

I must correct myself, however. Better is an awesome rocker, and a classic IMO. Don't like it live, though.

You're out of your mind, IRS is a classic GNR rocker. In fact, I'd bet it was written before 1997 like This I love. Those two are classic tracks I could easily see Slash playing on the UYI tours.

Same here.  Gets a lot of hate though, for some reason.

Great lyrics, great guitar work.  And an honest to god chorus.

I meant to respond to this, thanks for bumping it.......

I LOVE ALL the rockers on Chinese, including Scraped, which I'm starting to dig after the hundredth listen.

Riad is a fucking phenominal explosion of layered rock. IRS is simple, straight forward. Great tune. I agree it was probably created in 97/98. Shackler's is a shredding masterpiece. Better is one of my favorite jams of all time and Chinese Democracy is mean mean mean.

I've been partial to IRS since it first leaked.  I still think it's my favorite song on CD...though its close with Better and TWAT.  The Blues (ain't no way I'm ever calling it street of dreams) and Prostitute are almost up there, too.

In general, I actually REALLY like pretty much everything on the album.  Shacklers is probably my least favorite song, and even that isn't "skippable" when the album is playing in the car.

The first time I heard it, I thought it was the meanest thing I'd heard Axl sing on since YCBM. With Slash likely putting meat on the bones of the other finished tracks, I'm definitely look forward to what's to come from Guns.

I still think Riad has the best riff and best drums on the album. I do miss the more straight foward approach of the guitars in the Andy Wallace mix, tho.

Yeah, I can see that.

For people who are interested, the good news is my cousin knows a guy who knows a guy who gave him a description of every song on the new record and he sent it to me.

The bad news is that it's all in binary and I can't read it.

Guess we'll all just have to wait and see ...
