A re-release of Chinese Democracy could be very good. I avoided buying the vinyl so far given the feedback.

I wonder if they would take it as far as maybe getting alternate mix or even different track list order. I would also enjoy to hear the 2002 version, 2006 version and even an adjusted version of the final release. Alternate artwork is alright too, but I would not go as far buying all the different ones.

Anyway a full new album written by all the current band member is likely going to take some time. In the meantime, I don't mind getting an update Chinese Democracy or even getting the full recording session vault of that era. ;-)

As much as I want to hear more of the songs from the 'Chinese era', I wish this band would go old-school... Lock themselves in the studio for a month, write and record BRAND new songs and release that. There is so much damn talent in this band... it would blow people's minds what they could get done in a month starting from scratch. I mean, DJ said a few months back that Axl has all these song ideas and has shown him some stuff on the piano... plus DJ has his own ideas (not to mention the rest of the band). I love that raw, dirty, rough around the edges rock n' roll this band is known for... I just think that sound is lost after years and years of recording.

On the other hand, I'll be fucking happy with anything they release. This band kicks ass.

They should just put songs out exclusively through the website. I'd buy them ! beer

Yeah, wondering this too, but they are still listed at Universal Music http://www.universalmusic.com/artists?initial=g&page=2

That list on Universal Music also includes some bands who left the label, like Nine Inch Nail and Limb Bizkit.

I guess there are no strong confirmation if GNR are still on Interscope. Last time I saw the list of artists signed to the label, I was strongly thinking GNR have nothing to do there. They still have Van Halen, U2 and Blink, but the rest is what I would call mostly pop stuff. IMO nowadays they would do better to release independently with tours and internet to promote new releases.

With their popularity, GnR no longer need a label.

Go independent and use the internet.

couldnt agree more, it IS 2012 after all.  Tom Delonge is really a trailblazer when it comes to self distribution and using the internet to his full advantage.  He created modlife.com, and sells everything from music to merch to pay per views to livestreams from his band Angels and Airwaves on there.  I would love to see GNR take on a more modern approach to the music business like this.

Totally agree. One thing though, 'old school' for me should not (it may) be playing the same 'music style' as they once did. For me, I think they should just write new stuff and record new songs (for which they got the talent) without thinking too much about it...just go for it and play rock n' roll. Pretty sure some jewels will be made that way...just having fun and rock!

I'd like to see a re release of Chinese Democracy associated with a film release. Something like AC/DC did for the Iron Man Sequel.
Maybe a couple of bonus tracks, thrown in for good measure.

The next bond film would be perfect, Ive always thought Prositute would be great for the opening credits  Smiley.

"feels like forever and a day" very apt for the new bond movie.

I am glad to see that this thread has lived up to its name.  The fact that J has allowed this thread to exist gives me hope.  Let's Rock Vegas, and who knows what will come next.

It probably wouldn't be wise for them to hint about something that most likely isn't going to materialize in the foreseeable future.   Undecided
