I think we are just hanging on broken dreams of a new album. It has been over a year since we got 2 new songs. It’s hard to say what will happen but at least I have the Smashing Pumpkins to put out new music. beer

Touring continues with no new songs. How much longer do we have to wait for new songs. Slash said we would get new material on this leg of the tour. GNR should just say that their a touring band., the same 25 songs played to death. It would be nice if they followed thru with what Slash mentioned. beer

What I got from Slash's comments is they took the songs, they liked from the Chinese era and redid them.  Not necessarily all of the songs, they will be released as singles/EP's in the coming months.  Then he would like for them to go into the studio and create a new album.

I’m really enjoying the new Metallica single.

A band will have its own sound so that any music put out by that band will be recognisable as being by that band. I’m not going to take on board any criticism along the lines of ‘oh it sounds the same as the last record’, which to me appears to be an attempt to invalidate the new record.

Guns should take note. This is how you deal with the promotion of a new record and tour. Just my $0.02

Metallica also is doing two dates at each venue with a completely different set list each. night. For fuck's sake, how people continue to defend the creative laziness of Guns n. Roses is baffling. So many of their contemporaries continue to release original albums, go on tours in which they play different sets nearly every night .... Guns n' Roses are the biggest "what if" band in the history of rock. What a wasted opportunity to be something more than what they became.

And they are not just doing things "their way" as people will rush to say. They're not doing shit except for cashing in, which is fine. But don't pretend it is anything other than that.

Exactly, they play same 25 songs to death. Hopefully when the tour ends in December, they will go in the studio and release a album.

Yeah, it is strange how they used to basically pick songs on the fly back in the day, whereas now they're so regimented. It felt more like a group of guys just having fun and jamming. Maybe they should bring back the old couch on stage.  smoking

To be fair the setlist was pretty much the same at the end of the illusions tour.

Setlist wise i cant complain.

2022 they dusted off Reckless Life (first since 1993) fast Crazy (first since 1991, or 2006). Street Of Dreams (first since 2012)

2021 they premiered Hard Skool and dusted off Absurd (last played in 2001)

They dont have 20 albums. They vary their set quite a bit. Eventhought the structure is the same. Same opener ect.

Ive seen Metallica 5 times and ive never seen them play a song from my fav Metallica album Load.

True.

But that was also the tour for those albums.  Most stadium level acts bands stick to at least a basic setlist structure for the duration of that tour.

But how many legs of NITL were there?  And now...whatever this one is?  Still pretty much same.

Look, man.  They take the stage on time each night.  There is no ranting, storming off stage, or other silly drama.  And Axl looks like he having fun for the first time in 30 years.  That's about as good as we are going to do with this band.

And considering the decades of nonsense we went through trying to convince ourselves that Bumblefoot was cool and whatnot...we are doing alright.

^^ yeah, if that’s what floats your boat (no offence intended)

I have no problem with GnR being a touring band. Shit, I’ll continue going to see them.

I just wish they’d ‘fess up and say that out loud.

What pisses me off is the persistent carrot dangling re new music.

It’s been going on since the reunion and before, for over 10 years in fact.

There’s not a single person on this forum (or ‘elsewhere’) who can realistically refute that fact.
