My biggest beef is with the drummer, its way too straight sounding no groove, Slash's biggest fault in my eyes is that over time the drummers hes chosen have gotten worse and worse (maybe not technically but feel wise for the songs hes making) Adler had the best groove to go with Slash, I like certain things hes done with Sorum Contraband was good sorum on Its five O'clock somewhere wasn't that bad, I give him a pass on UYI as the songs were already written without him. But Josh Freese on the last album was very bland (Dave Grohl on Watch this was AWESOME that is one of the best songs slash ever did)
majorly seconded. The drummer is SO 80's and WAY too perfect and nothingy. 0 personality, lame drumming.
TBH I think slash doesn't appreciate the feel of drummers he plays with - i read somewhere he likes "drummers who can keep it straight". I think he is way to guitar minded, even when he listens to his music. Straight-ness is okay if you are creative with your beats (sean kinney from AIC, vinnie paul, lars sometimes, sorum sometimes), but if you just play generic rock beats straight its so boring. If you are going to play a simple beat in this kinda music, you need GROOVE. Chad smith, taylor hawkins, dave grohl, ringo, ian paice - all the greats.
Footnote Josh freese is actually an incredible drummer but i agree he was boring as fuck on that last album with occasional moments.
I do like Myles low singing voice; but that's about it with this song. lame melody, cheesy lyrics, generic rhythm section - the branded 'rock' that I vehemently hate. And I really loved slash's last album. I seriously hope slash has pulled something interesting out of his aging ass on this album because this song is very disheartening
