LISTEN: Slash "You're A Lie" From His Second Solo Studio Album, Apocalyptic Love Post by: Dave-O 24 February, 2012 - 12:01 PM
Comments 1

Ahead of Slash's world premiere of his new song on the Merrick And The Highway Patrol show on Monday, Feb 27, the ex-Gunners guitarist has given us a teaser. And, man, has it got balls! Listen to the preview above.

The song, You're a Lie will be the first single from Slash's forthcoming second solo studio album, Apocalyptic Love.

Triple M's Love Rod says Slash and Gunners fans will not be disappointed.

"To say this song has attitude is an understatement!" he said. "It lures with a build up of guitars and vocals that catch your ears then bangs into a killer chorus with Myles Kennedy reaching into flat out vocal form. May take a few listens but it will grow instantly with ear pleasure."

To celebrate the release of the new single, Slash will be a guest on the Merrick And The Highway Patrol show on Feb 27, from 4pm.

"You're A Lie" will be available from Feb 27, while Slash's new album Apocalyptic Love is out May 18. For more details

I am not too crazy about this clip.  Sounds way too similar to the Rod Jackson Snakepit for my liking.  Not to say its bad, but I am not feeling it.  I loved the first Slash solo album too.

Can't judge a song off a 30 second clip, never mind a whole record, but it sounds pretty bland, kind of like the old Snakepit stuff.  I really dug the first solo album as well, but that was because you had 13 other guys bringing a whole new fresh sound to Slash's playing.  I'm obviously going to buy the record when it comes out, but it sounds exactly like I thought it would after I heard Myles was doing all the vocals.

Too short of a clip for me to really judge.
Doesn't sound like Snakepit to me, though. I personally thought Snakepit got a bad rap.
Real strong material on there, spoiled for the most part by the less than stellar frontmen, though they each had their moments.

I'd be okay with a "Snakepit" sounding record if Myles can pull his own weight.

Definitely Agree with that, even though i liked the first frontman in Snakepit much better than the second one on the second album

I am surprised no one else hears the Rod Jackson era Snakepit vibe.  I hope I am wrong.  Its not that I didn't like that band, but it certainly was not the high point of Slash's career.

I can't judge the song based on a 30 second clip, I hope it turns out to be a cool album although I am not a Myles fan and I cannot stand to hear him singing the GN'R songs live.  smoking

I'm not home yet to hear the clip but if it sounds anything like Snakepit 2 I will be thrilled!

Sounds pretty good but doesn't knock my socks off.  I'll buy the album though cuz I dug the Myles tracks on the first one.

Not completely sure if I want a whole album of 'em or not, but let's give it a roll---

Just heard the clip. Sounds nothing like Snakepit. Too short to form an opinion imo. Chords in the chorus sound like Nickelback but im sure the overall song is resembles something a lot better lol

By the Sword might've been a better song but this 1st single sounds more radio friendly

I know it's too early to judge, but having listened to this clip a few times, I don't really like it at all so far.
It doesn't really sound much like Slash, and more like typical modern radio rock.

Hoping the rest of the song is better than this, and I hope the rest of the album is more classic Slash and less like this.

If you are on the east coast in America that means 12:00 midnight tonight, 9 on the west coast.

I saw this on the AB board. Slash is debuting the song at 4pm Sydney time monday. Which means in America that is tonight!!

I hear it, sounds very 'dated'. I liked Snakepit 2, but it sounded very 'dated'. I'm afraid this album is gonna tank very fast.

Yep, the full version of this track is gonna debut this afternoon in Australia on Triple M, along with a Slash interview.

To celebrate the release of the new single, Slash will be a guest on the Merrick And The Highway Patrol show on Feb 27, from 4pm.

It's 12:35pm here in Australia, so make sure to tune in in about 3.5 hours!

Can someone who knows how to do audio capture use that radio link Metallex78 provided to capture the song in a few hours to put on youtube?
