Watching that Youtube video I think Slash, Duff, and Steven sounded great - I have to admit it.  Of course there is no replacing Axl on vocals though.

i was there, and the whole i was wishing Kennedy wasnt there, everytime he stopped singing and backed up on the stage it was fuckin great, and you cant top slash's sound, no comparison to the sound of those songs when the NUGNR plays them

Sounds great! Not ideal, but cool to see that the fans in attendance at least got a performance.
No one can replace Axl, but Myles sounded pretty good.

"He's one of the greatest frontmen to ever touch a microphone" -Billie Joe Armstrong talking about Axl.  That was a great line, and it was really cool for Billie Joe to tell the crowd to shut the fuck up when they were heavily booing Axl.

I also liked how Billie Joe said he hated jock anthems and power ballads and how Guns N Roses were the opposite of that 80's shit.  There was a time where GN'R were lumped in with that nonsense, and even some journalists still do it today.  Great speech by Billie Joe.

The performance sounds very tight, and somebody said they hadn't enough time to rehearse  rofl.  Did myles reherse?  Roll Eyes This proves how people just blather on & on just to bring things down

With axl frontin' that band, it could have been a super performance.  beer beer

I think Myles does a decent job, even though we all know that NO ONE can replace Axl's voice & stage presence. However, imagine the sound, tone and musicianship from the HOF performance - take out Myles, and add Axl - and this would have been mindblowingly great. Not to diss the current line-up, but Slash's tone has yet to be duplicated...

Slash's tone has yet to be duplicated...

Opinion I guess. I think Bumbles ton is much better. Just listen to Estranged.

Slash's tone isn't what it used to be for a long time.
the last time i really heard that tone! it was way back in 07 with VR.
with the Slash records he totaly made a new sound for himself wich is actualy not bad.

you can't compare apples and pears, they are completely different players. just coincidentally, parts by one of them are played by the other one. don't turn this thread into another old vs. new crap, please Wink both of these guys are guitar aces of their own class and both are a part of GNR or their history.

Imagine how godlike it would be if Buckethead did the Nightrain-solo again?

No, I am not trolling or disregarding Slash...I am making a point and am completely honest at the same time.

Congrats to the classic lineup to being inducted into the HOF..its an honour and something to be prowd of, i would have loved to see Axl make piece with slash and just play once more but its not meant to be, i understand why he decided not go go and respect his decision, i understand he is focused on the Band now and i respect that too and Love this Band lineup..
It was cool to read about the old members playing together.. Any link to a vid of it??
I didnt head Greenday Mention Dizzy Sad

They said he played keyboards. that's all they said.

I've seen comments like "OMG! OMG! It was the first time Duff, Slash and Steven played together in 20 years". No, it's not.

They did it in 2009. Chester Bennington sang Paradise City with them at a benefit show in November 2009.

Yeah, I mentioned last night how incredible Steven, Duff, and Slash sounded; they were really tight together..... although I'll agree that Myles' vocals aren't Axl.  I stil don't think Myles is as bad as everyone here thinks, and still enjoyed the performances.

I think it went off as well as it could have, given all the circumstances. But I'm still happy that Axl and Izzy decided not to go...

I feel it's wrong how this event seems to have been catered for the ex GN'R members over the current GN'R. Guns N' Roses are still active and this ceremony was to honour the essence of Guns N' Roses and all of the work it has accomplished. So I would have rather this event be given to Axl and current GN'R, in regards to making decisions as to what would happen and what was going to be played and who with etc.

This event has been advertised and spoken about as if it's for a band, who stopped existing after 1997... and that's my biggest problems about this whole chirade.  Sad
