I've thought about that and it's funny because I happen to disagree that he had more rasp in 2006. There's no doubt that he had more compared to 2002. But I still think in 2006 he sounded sloppy and unsure. I remember the first time I thought to myself "Axl's back" was when I heard him tearing up "if the world " in 2010.

we dont have a definition for his "newer" voice, thats why people take their words to describe it. in the end we seem to agree that it simply sounds different.
