Palace looks full!
Unfortunately, not. Venue went to small theater configuration to accommodate the number of tix sold.
you mean,no upper bowls
It looked like the stage was a little more forward than for a regular show. Upper bowl was curtained off, definitely.
EDIT: After hearing back, it appears the stage wasn't moved up, just had upper level blocked off. I don't know why this qualifies 'intimate theater' setting.

"You're in the jungle, baby!": Guns N' Roses delivers signature songs to Palace crowd
Published: Friday, December 02, 2011, 3:53 AM Updated: Friday, December 02, 2011, 4:12 AM
Like the overwhelming majority in attendance at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Dave and Mike Tesch showed up to witness Guns N? Roses play the songs they grew up with.
They didn?t leave disappointed, as Axl Rose and the current G N? R lineup played just about all the band?s signature tunes, as well as songs from ?Chinese Democracy? and some cover tunes, in a lengthy set that didn?t end until well after 1 a.m. Friday morning.
Outside of Rose, none of the original members are still with the band, including guitarist Slash. Ultimately, the Tesch brothers, both in their mid-30s, decided finally getting a chance to see Guns N? Roses live for the first time was worth their while.
?We were a little hesitant knowing that Slash isn?t part of it,? Mike Tesch said. ?It would have been great to have Slash up there rocking it out, but what you listen for when you hear the songs on the radio is that voice. You know the voice, and you know the tone that Axl has.?
Axl2.JPGZeke JenningsAxl Rose performs during "Welcome to the Jungle" at the Palace
Considering he?s reached the ripe age of 49, Rose showed plenty of energy. His vocal range probably isn?t what it once was, but it?s still pretty good.
Absent were any of the on-stage antics and temper tantrums he became known for during the band?s heyday. The show even started on time.
In fact, there probably wasn?t enough Axl. If there was one knock on the sound it was that Rose?s vocals weren?t amped loud enough.
The crew ripped into the title track from 2008?s ?Chinese Democracy? before thrilling fans with three tracks from ?Appetite For Destruction,? including ?Welcome to the Jungle,? ?It?s So Easy? and ?Mr. Brownstone.?
Before the roughly two-and-a-half-hour set was finished, the band added plenty of other favorites, with ?Rocket Queen,? ?You Could Be Mine,? ?Sweet Child O? Mine,? ?November Rain,? ?Knockin? On Heaven?s Door? and ?Nightrain? drawing the best receptions.
Instrumental covers from the likes of Pink Floyd and The Who were also slipped in while Axl took breaks for wardrobe changes.
Although they?re not Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler ? something I?m sure they get reminded more often than they?d like ? Rose has assembled a solid band of good musicians. In particular, guitarist DJ Ashba has plenty of stage presence.
Guns N? Roses obviously doesn?t have the drawing power it once did. The upper bowl at the Palace got the WNBA treatment. The available seats in the lower bowl were about 80 percent full, in addition to probably 1,000 to 2,000 people on the floor.
In all, Axl and company gave Guns N? Roses fans what they came to see.

Tommy's reminding me of the host of CBS's The Amazing Race! Come to think of it, that's what pose he should be in for the last team to arrive.

One of my coworkers said that she heard that the Detroit show as the best live concert that GNR has ever given, 10x better than the original lineup!
