Updates / November 2: Atlanta @ Philips Arena

I drove from Tupelo, MS for this show! I seen Guns last year in Hamilton and London. This show was by far the best of the 3. There was no long wait. the upper risers were closed off but every seat i could see was filled. Axl was in the best mood that ive ever seen him in. He joked a lot with the crowd. Performed a 3+ hour set list. Ron let me play his guitar during part of a song which was fuckin amazing! Caught a Guitar pick from DJ and Ron. Shook Axl's hand! The one thing that surprised the hell out of me was that we were able to pull out our cameras and take pictures right in Axl's face. I got pictures he starred at me and posed for pictures! Axl is defiantly out to prove a point with this tour!

Wow thats some amazing pics!! and terrific camera!!  I Have a question for ya and anyone that has been front rows , how early did you arrive at the venue ? i  have floor seats for the first time for Chicago and i want to get as close as i can for the show? were you there when the doors open or how is it done? thanks 

I arrived at 10am. I would probably recommend arriving round noonish and you should be good! I took those pictures with my iphone 4.

Oh man oh man! It's nice to read comments that many sang new songs from Chinese Democracy AND the band was on fire once again and they were having fun all night long. That's a real rock n' roll show  So it seems like things are getting better and better as the tour goes on which is amazing

Had I known the arena would be so camera/video friendly I would have taken my nice Sony camera which would have taken much better pictures and video but since tickets said no cameras I sneaked in my Sony pocket sized camera in my boot.  Here's a few of the better pictures from the night I hope you enjoy.  I took these from the front row side stage left about 10-15 ft from the center of the stage.  I used a Sony Cyber-shot 14.1 Mexapixel camera which for a camera under $200 didn't do too bad a job.  This is the same camera I recorded the videos with that I posted on youtube.

ps I've been away from the forum and bootleg collecting for a few years now... how often do proshot videos and soundboard audio leaks make their way online now a days?  I'm really hoping to get a copy of this concert as I think it was by far the best Guns concert I've ever seen.

Well, the last 2 shows I went to he cut short so it kind of matters to me.  Furthermore, I am a fan and GNR has meant more to me than any other band ever and I want Axl to be happy, God knows he takes enough shit online.

it wasn`t a put down we`re all GNR fans i was pointing out last year he was in a great mood and actually on the 06 tour he was in a great mood and futhermore why wouldn`t we want him to be

"The North American road trip, helmed by the band's only original member Axl Rose, marks the band's first since 2006. The remaining members include Tommy Stinson (bass), Bumblefoot (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), DJ Ashba (guitar), Richard Fortus (guitar), Frank Ferrer (drums), and Chris Pitman (keyboards). As Guns N' Roses returns to Atlanta for the first time since 1987, the debauchery still seems to follow the band to this day."

Axl?s performance reminded Atlanta what a real rock star should look and sound like. He was in a great mood throughout his 3 hour set and frequently joked with band members and his audience.  He is quite a jokester.  He mentioned his last visit to Atlanta and how he was arrested on-stage for punching a security guard at the Omni in 1987. He teased about 3 songs in and said ?Well, I?ve gotten farther tonight than I did in 1987.?  He told us the story about when he was sitting in the Paddy wagon with cuffs on.  His manager came to him and said ?I think we?ve got this worked out, all you need to do it apologize to the Security Guard.?  Axl?s apology consisted of two words that weren?t ?I?m sorry? but started with ?F ? you?.


By the end of the show, he expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the good reception he received from the audience. When the show ended at nearly 2am with Paradise City, many of the people stayed and sang every word to the songs they knew. When it was done Axl twirled around some girls panties and bra that were flung onto the stage and kept running back and forth on the stage. Axl seemed to not want to leave the stage telling everyone to get home safe and come back and see him again and wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.
