I guess the Oilers motto has become who needs D.
another high end forward. expecting a top 6 next year of:
Hall - RNH - Eberle
Hemsky - Gagner - Yakupov

Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, Mats Sundin and Joe Sakic elected to the hall of fame. All well deserved. Congrats to them.

Holy shit! The Kings just gave Quick a 10 year deal. I think that's ludicrous. You have no idea if he's gonna keep playing like this that long. I know he's young but c'mon.

Now Crosby signs a new 12 yr deal worth $104 million dollars. If the owners are gonna cry salaries are out of control during the CBA talks. The deals for Crosby 12/$104 million and Quick 10yr/58million have just killed and credibility that would have.

Crosby still has the 8.7m cap hit he's had for the past few years.

Its a big risk. He could be on concussion from being the next Lindros.

Now Jordan Staal signs a 10 year 60 million deal. The owners are killing any chance in hell at getting anything they want in labor talks. If they even think of crying poverty or that they are losing money they will lose all credibility. 3 owners now have dolled out $222.4 million in the last 3 days.

This sounds awesome
CHICAGO -- The NHL's all-time wins leader in goal, Martin Brodeur, is drawing interest from the Chicago Blackhawks, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. And a separate source indicated that Brodeur has mutual interest in the Hawks.
Brodeur, 40, has played for the New Jersey Devils for his entire 19-year career. He is the all-time leader in wins (656) and shutouts (119) and is a three-time Stanley Cup victor and four-time Vezina trophy winner.
Brodeur is an unrestricted free agent after talks with the Devils broke down earlier in the week. If he did join the Blackhawks, he would immediately become the starter and the Hawks would have to make a decision on their two netminders already under contract, Corey Crawford and Ray Emery. Both are signed to deals for the 2012-13 season. Crawford's deal runs through 2013-14.
It's not known if the Hawks have made a firm offer to Brodeur, but they have contacted his representatives, according to a source.

I hope he doesn't play elsewhere next year. Seeing him on a different team would just be wrong.

The same was said once upon a time for Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, LeBron James, Albert Pujols, etc.

True and outside of LeBron those were shocking to see. Brodeur has just meant so much to New Jersey, he's their version of Derek Jeter. Could you ever picture him in something other then a Yankee uniform?

Wasn't there talk of him being traded/signing elsewhere just last year? If Brodeur means as much to NJ as you claim then surely the Blackhawks nor him would be on each other's radar.

There was never really any danger of Jeter signing elsewhere prior to last season. If NJ isn't really serious about keeping him that's sad. I realize he's gonna be 41 before next season ends but he clearly has something left. Both sides should show some loyalty. He deserves to finish his career as a Devil.

So much for Brodeu going to Chicago. He just resigned with the Devils. 2 yrs, 9million. Looks like he did exactly what Jeter's agent did. Scare the team into thinking he might leave to get more years/money.

Parise and Suter both Signs with Minnesota!
Cool! They'll have a pretty damn good team in a few years, some potentially great prospects in that organization.
Also happy that Parise denied both Devils and Pens

Really don't like how my Blackhawks are toying with the idea of bringing in Luongo.

I don't blame you, he's not a very good goalie imo.

I think he showed a lot of promise before the Blackhawks destroyed him in '09 and he hasn't been the same since (especially after the same thing happened in '10). Outside of maybe nabbing Nabokov from the Islanders, I'm content with Crawford and Emery.

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenceman Shea Weber to a 14-year offer sheet worth upwards of $100 million. The Nashville Predators have seven days to match the offer if they wish to retain Weber's services.
