i didn't like the seats i was getting in the presale. gonna try my luck at the general onsale on saturday. i can't do the Pit, so i want 100 level near the center and relatively close to the stage. i may be making a mistake, but i'll take my chances.

I wasnt thrilled either about the presale seats  but i got them anyway, not sure if the entire center section sold already or if they're holding them for general onsale. This is GnR's first Philly-area show since the no-show in 2002 (i was there) so I'm thinking they might've sold those seats already. All the rock stations are mentioning the show a lot, giving away tix, etc. so i think it'll sell out.

After i paid for my tickets i saw the above post and thought "fuck, maybe they are holding those center seats". I called Live Nation and asked about the "Live Nation Fan Guarantee" i saw on the site -- the lady told me that you have 72 hours to change your mind about your tickets and get a refund, OR if you find better seats (like, on Saturday) you can call them and they will exchange your tix for the better seats (but you have to call and let them do it -- don't buy the new ones first). And it's free to do this -- the $7 per ticket insurance is something different.

Hope this helps. Looking forward to a meetup before the show. Also looking forward to seeing GnFnR in the U.S. again !!! (although i did have fun in Toronto). I'm even taking the same girl i went with in 2002, even though we haven't dated since 2003.

As long as I have tickets, I'm good.  Section 104, Row G.  It is a small enough venue that I don't think any of those 100 level seats will be bad.  Can't wait!!

thanks for that information. very helpful. there's no way they sold all the good 100 level seats. i'm confident we will have success on saturday. i probably should have bought some and returned them, but i've never done it before and $900 is alot of freakin money to put out and not have 100% confidence that i would be reimbursed.  hihi

i am not the biggest fan of this venue. i've been there several times and for me, location makes a HUGE difference in the quality of the view and sound. the seats i was getting were so average - i gotta at least take a shot.

i was there in 2002 as well. i was second level row 1, left hand side of the stage, about a section or 2 from the stage. had a perfect view of the riot. can't believe it's been 9 years.

i believe this show will sell out. maybe not right away, but eventually it will. and obviously the promoters believe 7,000 is too low a number for this market which is why they inflated prices.

i have had several people text me about hearing commercials on WMMR and wanting to go to the show. i'm telling everyone to get tix ASAP. i can't freakin wait!

Now the nerves set in...will the show go on???

I was really surprised by the change in initially advertised price and the price revealed this morning.
Personally, no big deal.  I did settle for the $89 tix because I had told some buddies I'd be going for lower level seats...and that price was over $110...
long story short, I didn't wanna say 1 price and then almost double it for my buddies.

Has GNR ever played Camden before?

GNR tix ordered?  THIS I Love.   love  love  love  beer

we gotta meet up so i can explain in person why D-Mac sucks!  rofl just kidding, man.

i do not believe gnr ever played camden. this place opened in the mid-90's and i don't remember there being a venue in camden before that.

i think this will be a successful tour. positive thinking! although all of my friends (many of whom i took to the canceled show in 2002) have sent me e-mails with some variation of: "if axl doesn't show, we are going on a manhunt and bringing him back to our basement for a personal show!" i gotta admit, i don't like that there is a show the night before all the way up in MA, but i am totally confident. before their break this year, they toured the world very successfully. they are a touring machine!

I'm totally down with meeting HTGTH'ers.  I met lots of great fans/HTGTH'ers before Hammerstein and Meadowlands in '06.
I don't know how Camden runs things...I can't imagine in an area like that there's a lot of tailgating.  Anyhow, what gang colors should I avoid now???   Grin

Tailgating's a must then.  That's great to here!  My whole vision was parking in a crack-infested neighborhood, dodging bullets as I sprinted for an arena, and then worrying about how the heck I was gonna get to my vehicle.

What is the buzz like for this show in the area? Is there a lot of talk or excitement about it? I think it's going to be awesome, especially since it;s a smaller arena too !

there is some significant buzz for this show. my dad just told me he heard it advertised on 94.1 WIP Sports Radio. that is very smart marketing as that is a huge part of the target audience that would go to this show. Also, WIP's ratings right now are very high because the phillies are about to start the playoffs and its football season. this is probably the time of year that they have the most listeners.

Also, 93.3 WMMR is promoting the show and giving away tix. but this comes with some controversy....

Pierre Robert just came on the radio and said he is playing a GnR song and will explain why you shouldn't go. he said the choice is yours but he will explain his side of the story. so gnr fans should listen up and call him and tell him why he is wrong.  http://www.wmmr.com/

Is this the station that vowed not to play GNR after '02, until Axl apologized or something like that?

i think so. they quickly backed off of that though. GnR are in regular rotation. the station blows anymore and they are the only rock station in town since WIP took over 94.1's signal.

Pierre's rant will be in the 1 o'clock hour.

a little background...
- pierre has never been a GnR fan. he told me in an e-mail he does not understand why they are considered a great band.
- pierre is gay. my own personal opinion is that he always viewed Axl as being homophobic (which we know is not true).
- many in Philly felt like Axl gave our city a "kick in the balls" when that show got canceled. Axl was blamed and everyone assumed he was not remorseful. some still hold that "don't fuck with my city" attittude towards axl.

Pierre just said he will explain why no one should waste their money on the GnR show. I'm wondering if Live Nation will have a problem with this. we all got reimbursed for the show in 2002, so if he tries to make the argument that we could waste money, he's full of shit.

That's really all I needed to read.  I don' t understand what the buildup is for the 1 oclock hour just to have someone who is not a fan of the band tell us why we shouldn't see them.  That is not really news.  If he doesn't like them, of course he doesn't want us to see them.  Now if it were a die hard GNR fan about to tell us why we shouldn't see them I still wouldn't listen to them, but that would be something to listen to for a few minutes.

i hear ya, but for me it is big, because pierre is the most influential DJ in philly, probably all time. the guy is a legend. and he has the power to negatively influence the sale of tix. potentially alot of people that are on the fence may be swayed by him. and ideally, this thing would sell out quick and they would have to add shows.

i posted here and am telling my friends to call and e-mail so the station knows that pierre is out of touch. and they MMR should promote and be more positive towards gnr in the future. any little thing i can do to help with the buzz.

as a native philadelphian, i want nothing more than a positive relationship between GnR and the city and its people.

Radio is  dead.  I think you are overstating his importance.  He is a radio dj in one market, any internet blogger has way more pull and reach than he does and there are millions of those.  For example, I live a little less than 2 hours from Philly, and spend a lot of time down there and I have never heard of the guy.  IF this were 1986 pre-internet maybe what a radio dj says would hold some weight...but not in 2011.

Hey,

Does anyone know what would be the expected start time for GNR? I was looking at the 2006 US tour, and it seemed like 11:30-11:45 was the average start time for the band. Is that possible at this arena? What is the latest bands can play for at this center?

The reason I'm asking is that I may not make it to Camden until 8:30-9pm and I don't want to miss any part of GNR.

For those who have been here, what is the latest you can remember a show going on until here. I'm hoping maybe for a 2 hour show from 10-12. I guess I'll get a better idea when the US tour starts....

Thanks for any input...
