I get why Libertad is seen as disappointment, but that doesn't make it a cash grab by any means. It doesn't sound nearly as commercial to my ears as has been suggested. It doesn't sound like they were striving to have a similar sound to popular bands of today. If it was all about the money, they had the blueprint for success right in front of them with Contraband. They could have made part 2.

I wouldn't underestimate these guys egos. I don't think they have it in them to mail it in. I think they are very aware of their legacies, and wouldn't put out a subpar record just for the sake of money. I know Scott basically said as much, but even he sounds more inspired on the VR records than anything STP since '96. He also mentions wanting to prove he could succeed w/o Deleo bros, as I'm sure Slash and Duff wanted to do outside the GN'R umbrella. Don't underestimate the ego of a rockstar.

It's easy to knock someone like Slash who puts himself out there publicly.
People are different. The life of a recluse doesn't appeal to everyone.

GNR fans probably shouldn't shit on anything to do with Best Buy. We'd probably still be waiting for Chinese Democracy if they hadn't fallen on the sword.

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.

If it's accepted to assert and criticize that Slash plays and releases too much music, should we then also castigate those who play and release too little?

Man, you log in for the first time in forever to read a few topics (such as this one) and then that jarmo dude pops in for a few swipes by which I'm reminded why it's been so long. It truly has gotten old and stale, hasn't it? Kindergarten mentalities and god complexes all around.

Bach chose Jesus over Slash.  Classic!   hihi
Seriously, Bach would have been a better choice in my honest opinion.
