Hi guys, long term reader and (non posting) member of this forum. Obsessive GnR fan (I own 2 copies of everything just in case something gets trashed!). The reason for my question - I have a holiday booked for the USA (I'm from Sydney, Australia) from 10th - 27th November in San Francisco, Vegas & LA (staying on the Sunset Strip so I could check out all the GnR landmarks!). If I just miss out on seeing them in the US, I will be utterly devastated, and I believe a finalist in any unluckiest GnR fan competition. I have my fingers and everything else crossed!

From past tour history, they tour the east coast during the winter months, Nov., Dec, and then move out west towards the begining of the year. Since you still have some time, I'd look into a flight over to the east coast at a confirmed show (if the money is there). If you're travelling to a different country (even if the sole reason isn't GNR) what's a few more states to the east? Good luck!

@DarkFairy - yeah saw them in Sydney at the Olympic Stadium last year - managed to get right up the front on the barrier - closest I had ever been. Meant standing in the rain for about 5 hours waiting, but when show started it stopped! Then when Sweet Child started and Axl was singing 'as if they thought of rain' it started to rain again!!!! Even he had a laugh at that point. I have seen them every time they have been to Sydney (1988, 1993, 2007 - both nights and 2010 as mentioned).

@rebelhipi & meanmachine78 & Chief - too late - booked and paid for! If I can I will fly but I'm not sure if I can afford it, or the schedule allows. Have already booked tix for everything, including Disneyland, Universal, 49ers game v Giants in SF, Ellen (my partner is so excited about this, Ellen is her favourite TV star) etc etc.

SO I am lucky - because I get to visit the US for the first time, and do lots of cool stuff, but if I miss out on GnR, I would be devastated, particularly because I was meant to see them in London in 2002 on my 30th birthday but couldn't go.

well i wouldnt call you unlucky, it looks like you are going to have a great trip, you have seen GNR before and i know it would be amazing to watch them again, but probably you will have more oportunities to catch them, maybe in Australia. i say dont worry to much and enjoy your trip to the U.S

Thanks nekomex. You are right, I am a lucky person. It would just be funny if I was in the USA and missed them by days!!! You can see why I would think that was unlucky. I doubt they will tour Australia again any time soon, hence my desire to see them in the US.

I once heard of someone from Argentina who won tickets to the last date of the UYI tour, but was told by her parents that she couldn't go because she was too young, and maybe she could go next time. "Next time" turned out to be last year... I think you'll have to go some way to beat that as the unluckiest GN'R fan ever. rofl
But yes, it would be pretty unlucky.

I enter the competition as well. I'm from Europe and will be in Colombia next month during the tour. No show there and as the continent is huge it's not quite possible to make it to Paraguay or Mexico. I found some flights but it's just too far away.

I've seen the band six times and all that but as well as the band, I just would've loved to see a crazy, crazy Latin American audience peace

@AxlReznor - Wow that is truly unlucky. I can't beat that. I wonder how young she was in 1993 for her parents to say that?
@Lord Stan - Good luck.

Dear shnaxl1972

Fuck no you're not the unluckiest GnR fan ever! You're getting the oppurtunity to see all the legendary places, like Sunset Strip and Rainbow. So even if you don't catch a show you are pretty lucky!!! rant

Hope it works out for you though. Wish all my GnR-cousins the best beer

i would say the most unlucky fans are the ones who went to shows where the band didn't come out and play i.e. philly in 06.

@westcoast_junkie Thanks Mate!!  beer

With new dates being added I am hopeful.

Funny how the world works - saw Motley Crue on Friday night here in Sydney (great show by the way), - anyway after  Bret Michaels finished his support slot & before Motley came on - met a guy with a Steel Panther shirt on. Asked him if he saw them in LA or out here - he tells me he saw them in LA. Told him how I was staying on the sunset strip when I go for a holiday in November - asks me where am I staying - turns out he he stayed at the same place I will be at. How cool is that? The odds are pretty out there!!! Gave me some great tips on what to do while I am there!
