"Paranoia is just another type of awareness"

« on: August 18, 2011, 03:07:02 PM »

Do you guys find, as I do, that when driving, some songs just switch me on and make driving around with the stereo blasting absolutely the best way to hear your favorite band?

Yesterday, travelling back from work (about 30 minutes away) I played "Coma" 3 times and then though fuck it, and drove past my house and listened to once again  Grin that was the best drive ever, yet I do the same journey 5 days a week.

This got me thinking, of all the studio tracks available, and to fit on a CD (thus 74minutes) , what would be your "Ultimate"  Guns n Roses driving CD that could be made? I'm working mine out at the moment and will post it up in a day or two. I know people hook up their MP3 player and can do longer (indefinite) albums but that would be too easy....

GREAT idea for a thread! Without figuring out actual running times fitting onto an 80 minute CD, I'd say the following tracklist off the top of my head:

Right Next Door To Hell
Welcome To The Jungle
Better
Paradise City
Locomotive
Bad Apples
You're Crazy (GN'R Lies version)
Scraped
Double Talkin' Jive
Pretty Tied Up
There Was A Time
Coma

CAUTION: You WILL get a speeding ticket if you make that compliation CD  hihi

Good call.

I would add those for sure as long as they fit on a CD. Both are excellent driving songs.

Hmm. If I could work it in time wise, I would throw one from 2006 or 2007 on there.

I haven't tested this to make sure it fits on a CD yet... I may have to make some edits:

Live And Let Die
Pretty Tied Up
Better
Move To The City
Dust N' Bones
New Rose
Bad Apples
Locomotive
Chinese Democracy
Garden Of Eden

Nice thread. Funny though, how different in opinion one can be on picking songs.

These would have been on my cd, no more, no less, and in this order:

Welcome to the Jungle
Rocket Queen
Ain't It Fun
Civil War
Locomotive
Coma
Nightrain
Estranged
Perfect Crime
Shadow Of Your Love
Double Talkin (with the speakers maxed out on the guitarsolo at the end there... thus ending the ride)

Nice to see some "Spaghetti Incident" songs on the list. Always been one of my faves and very underrated imho.

Made the mix I posted for the drive out to see The Chris Robinson Brotherhood the other night.

A) The CD was PERFECT for fast driving
B) It put me in the COMPLETELY wrong mood for a laid back southern rock show.

There are many good lists on here, so I won't post another...

But, I would definitely have to have Welcome To The Jungle, Scraped, Riad And The Beduins and Paradise City on mine. In fact those 4 songs would make a killer 15 minute drive CD...

And I think you'd get more than a speeding ticket with that combination...... I can imagine just as Rons Riad solo kicks in, thinking you was invincible....taking over cars, doing handbrake turns and thinking your the king of the highway.  Grin
