Tommy On Main Vocals

What do guys think? Guns N' Roses doing some (one at least), with Tommy on vocals, Axl backing up.
What sort of song would you like them to do? Ballad, acoustic, rocker... etc. Personally I would like to hear a down-tempo acoustic piece. With Axl as either a back up vocalist or Tommy and Axl sharing the main - one verse each.
There's so much talent in this band, imagine a real soulful acoustic guitar solo as well. Just listening to all the jams they did on the past tour, they sound pretty astonishing.

I like every Gn'R song where Axl is not on the main vocal, so why not? Tommy Stinson sure have a distinctive voice, and I love Axl backing up on songs like You Ain't the First and Dust n' Bones.

It wouldn't be something that I'd particularly care to see, if I'm being honest.

What an expected reply from you. Care to explain why?
Maybe there's a reason for all your negativity.
I think it would be cool.
It would give the song a different feel. Maybe with Axl and Tommy sharing the lead vocals, or Axl doing backgrounds.
If there's a perfect song for that, I'm sure it could happen.

Not really with anyone backing but he did a few songs on the last leg of the tour didn't he? Sonic Reducer, and I thought My Generation? Not original but he obviously can sing (since he does the solo stuff)

I'll apologize in advance for my reasoning not being all that scandalous.
I'm not a fan of Tommy's vocal abilities.

While I agree that Guns have a solid record of releasing amazing tracks without Axl on lead, I don't think the examples cited proves why it would work again.
The key ingredients in what made those specific songs so magic are no longer part of the equation. And there's no guarantee that the same magic could be recaptured with others in a way that would be considered Guns worthy.

No Stoned, there's never no guarantee for anything. But Tommy's a good singer and songwriter and Axl is too +they have chemistry after working together the last 12 years, so the premisses is there

could work if the song and the song recording/mixing turns out fine. i've always had some trouble with those illusions songs like Dust N Bones, 14 Years, So Fine.....thought they're cool songs but recording/production/mixingwise could've been made better. the 14 years unofficial demo totally kills the illusion version IMO.
if there'd be a duet with Tommy i'd like to hear some mean special Axl vocals in whatever part he comes in, not just some small background vocals Axl.

Do you actually like anything the band has done since 1994?
I guess you like Live Era and Greatest Hits. But you must know what I mean.
You sound like an old grumpy man stuck in the past and telling everybody how things were better while the rest of the world (this message board) are living in the present and enjoying themselves.

Really?
My post said all that about myself?
You have a bizarre logic.
I think what I said makes perfect sense. The songs cited were largely influenced by two musicians who are no longer part of the band.
So tell me, how could those two songs support the notion that Tommy taking lead would be worthwhile?
It doesn't make sense, nor does it guarantee that it would be even remotely the same.

Not only that post,
all
your posts.
You come across as one of those people who like to put everything down.
Have you had one good thing to say about present day GN'R?
It's ok if you don't like GN'R anymore because "the magic is gone". Just don't pretend you're some kind of "voice of reason" or "level headed objective fan".
And people that only come here to remind us all of the past usually don't last long.
I was there too, but I choose to spend my life in the present.

But, if you listen to Tommy's (in this case) solo work, there's some really good songs there. Even if the 'key ingredients' from those UYI songs are gone, that doesn't automatically mean the 'new ingredients' are worse. I'm basing my string of thoughts here by the solo work of the current members, their abilities with their instruments, their performance during the tour etc.
As I mentioned before, the jams they've done... Take a listen to a few of them on youtube.
Have you heard 'One Man Mutiny' with Tommy, Richard and Dizzy?
