I love it! I would hardly call it the farm, but they did overpay. Its going to a be a middle to late first round pick and a conditional pick provided the Raiders win a playoff game. The Raiders are a very very young team, they don't value those picks as much as another team would. Hardly a lot to give up if Palmer pans out to be a franchise quarterback for the Raiders. The Raiders didn't give up any players at all. I can't wait to see the convicts or drug addicts the Bengals waste those picks on.
It's a win now league, I would much rather see the Raiders be aggressive instead of giving up on the 2011 season by having Kyle Boller start.
In order to pry Palmer away from the Bengals who were hell bent on making him suffer, they were going to have to be willing to overpay, which they did.

Problem is, Palmer hasn't been the same since getting his knee destroyed against Pittsburgh.

The deal is for a 1st in 2012 and a 2nd in 2013..not totally the farm, but close. They overpaid plain and simple..I like Palmer, but the guy isn't going to win you more than a playoff game or two..not really worth the price if you ask me.
As far as the Packers go...they are doin good not great right now, but I see them running into some trouble down the road...they better hope they grab that No. 1 seed

I dont know about that, he had really good years in 06 and 07, and started every game the last 2 seasons on a team he couldnt stand to be around. Well see what a change of scenery does for him, i think he has a lot of potential but it is certainly a huge gamble.

So it appears the Raiders are going to continue to make dumb decisions even without Al Davis.
I've always thought Carson Palmer was incredibly overrated. There was a time when people were ranking him as one of the best QBs in the league, even though the guy never won a single playoff game. He was one of those guys who was a better fantasy QB than a real life QB, and now he's neither. His last good year was in 2007. This is 2011. He doesn't even seem to have much arm strength anymore. And apparently he was content to just sit around at home and never play again, which definitely shows how much heart and passion he has for the game. The Raiders should've given no more than a 3rd or 4th round pick for the guy. But considering their past history with first round draft picks, maybe it isn't much of a loss afterall.

I heard the pick in 2013 gets bumped up to a first rounder IF the Raiders win ONE playoff game with Palmer. Do the Raiders have ANY draft picks left next year? They're certainly taking a big risk, but they had a great season last year and appear to be on the right track. I'm not sure Palmer has to be great, they've done pretty well with less than great QB's the last year plus.
As for the Packers, they are hands down the best team in the NFL right now. It's not even close. However, it's only mid-October. And can you name the last team that was the best team heading into the season and into October that were standing on top at the end of the season? It's rare. It's usually the team that gets hot down the stretch. It's not easy going wire to wire, but they do have all the tools. Although their defense hasn't been all that great so far this year, so I guess there is room for improvement. Or hope for the rest of the NFL, if you want to look at it that way.

I heard the Raiders had to make it to the AFC Championship game for that pick to be a 1st rounder, otherwise, it'll be a 2nd rounder. I think monkeys have a better chance of flying than the Raiders making the AFC Championship game in the next 2 years.
Don't get me wrong, if I'm watching the Raiders, I'm usually rooting for them.

I dont think thats completely out of the question in the AFC. Making the AFC title game isn't that hard especially in this years AFC that is wide open. As a Raider fan though, I will be happy with them having a winning season and making the playoffs, that will be hard enough. I think Carson Palmer has the potential to be a franchise quarterback for the Raiders, especially with his relationship and familiarity with Hue Jackson. There is also a potential for this to be a huge bust that blows up in the Raiders faces. As a fan, Im glad they took the risk.

i will say I am shocked that at some point in his career he didn't end up on the Raiders for at least a season.
If they can get him for nothing I would do it, why the hell not at this point? If he acts up again they can just cut him.

I was hoping they'd go in this direction instead of pursuing Palmer
Columnist Mike Florio writes a piece titled ?Raiders not considering Favre, yet.? It starts out well enough, running down the situation in Oakland and noting that Favre could possibly consider a ?Roger Clemens-style partial season, under the right circumstances.?

Maybe he was too honest, but if u look at what he said, he has been 100 percent correct about it
Don't forget, Donovan Mcnabb started it with T.O. cause he was JEALOUS.
T.O didn't say shit about Donovan until Donovan dogged him out to the press on how they didn't "NEED" T.O. to get to the Super Bowl
U don't say that about a teammate

Oh Jesus D, we're gonna argue like an old married couple again!
What is a team leader supposed to say when confronted with a l,oaded question? Is he supposed to say, "You're right Mr. Reporter, we've got no shot at getting to a Super Bowl without Mr. Owens."
Umm, no.
Listen, both guys didn't behave the way grown men should behave. The "silent treatment" shit was complete and utter bullshit. If any of you out there (or your spouses) pull that shit, they are fucking juvenile...strike that! Infantile! Fucking ridiculous. If Reid had any balls he would have put those 2 babies in a room, locked the door and told them their game checks would stop rolling in once they shook hands and moved on.
That said, which one has the bigger history of asshole moves and locker room cancer? Mr. Terrell Owens.

Exactly but only one guy took the blame for all that.
McNabb fired the first shot.
He could've said, we were fortunate to make it to the Super Bowl but the only chance we have at winning is if T.O is on the field.
He was jealous cause Philly loved T.O and never embraced Donovan and Donovan felt like he deserved more credit so he bitch smacked T.O.
