In a new blog post from Todd Kerns:

Glasgow, Scotland July 9 2011

In the meantime Planet Slash is booming loud and large! We have never before played songs in the upcoming headlining sets. We?ve continued to work on new material for the upcoming new album. Very exciting times.

We head to Slash?s birthplace on this tour-Stoke On Trent. We will be filming for what may turn out to be Slash?s first ever home dvd. I?m excited to potentially be a part of that.

Slash plays hometown show in Stoke for live DVD

Mon, 25 Jul 2011

After celebrating his birthday at High Voltage Festival in London this weekend, Slash returned to his former child-hood hometown of Stoke On Trent yesterday for a show at Victoria Hall.

Tickets went fast for the Stoke On Trent show when they went onsale, selling out in just two hours.  Fans flocked from the US and Japan.

"I've been wanting to do this for a long time and for some reason it just never seemed possible," Slash said ahead of the performance, "One of the things about doing the solo record and setting up my own tour was that I told the powers-that-be that I wanted to play in places I'd never played before. And so Stoke was something that was high on my list and I told them just make it happen."

The show, that the fans were treated to a 3 hour long set, which was filmed for a future DVD release.

Slash also posted to his Facebook page after the performance to update his fans on how much he enjoyed the show and to reveal his plans to return to Stoke for another show next year.

"Stoke was a fn' blast!! Great vibe & energy. Its going to make a killer dvd. We'll be back next year definitely!"

Curious, assuming there is a DVD, whether or not Slash can release the GnR songs?  Wouldn't that require Axl's permission?

Todd Kerns posted in his blog that it will be released in Oct.:

The legendary photographer, Ross Halfin, was out shooting us for the upcoming dvd we?re releasing in October. He is an endless source of entertainment. His stories are cutting and hilarious. He?s done all the greats. We would see him for the next few days and he never presents a dull moment. Ever.

Slash is more excited about playing right now than I have seen him in I don't know how long. He never seemed this into it with VR when I watch his performances now vs. that period in retrospect.

For his part Myles continues to sound better the more he has been with Slash, and I can't wait to see what they come up with on that album next year. He clearly has been a good influence on Slash, or at the very least puts him in a really positive frame of mind that has creeped into his playing. Just to have Slash be able to dive into the whole catalog again has been a treat instead of being stuck with him playing ISO and Brownstone for the 10 millionth time because that is all his singers could handle.

They are totally on point as a unit right now and it is great to see.

I'd been hired to shoot a cover for Slash's live album and DVD cover as the show was being filmed.

So it looks like we'll get a CD and DVD of this show? Here's hoping! beer
