Won't happen, simple as.
I don't mean to dash your hopes, but people need to get realistic. GN'R have alot on their plate at the moment, they have the legal business to sort out regarding guitar hero. They have Rock In Rio to get ready for, while hopefully working to schedule live dates before and after.
And the only recording that will be going on, is going to be for a Guns N' Roses album, not any tribute album like this. It's the way it is, GN'R is
not
a band who does this kind of thing out of the blue, and don't bring up the past, I'm talking about the new incarnation of GN'R.
And to be honest, I don't want them to. GN'R are too legendary to do covers for a tribute album, even for Paul.
People need to stop fantasizing about GN'R doing stuff like this, or doing any TV shows or anything. Because quite honestly, it probably isn't going to happen.

Guns N Roses are the greatest band of all time in my opinion. However nobody is too big to do a favor for SIR Paul McCartney. I think it would be awesome for the band to go in and bang out a new version of Live and Let Die. That would take all of 8 hours. I know chances are it wont happen, but it would be really cool.

The more things the band can do like this the better. And Live & Let Die has a place in the band's history, so it would kinda tie in pretty nice.

We have no idea about what Axl thinks of Paul as a person. Who knows if he would want to do it or not.
What I do know is that I saw something back in 1993 that I didn't like as a Guns fan- I was at a paul McCartney gig n' when he was going to play LALD, he said in a very bad mood "This song was recorded by another band" n' then started playing it.
Sometimes to do something like this you have to really like the person or even kinda be friends with - who knows.
Well, it's just a comment anyway.
Apart from all that, it just reminds me of that story of "Ebony n' Ivory" - Lionel Richie said at the beginning of the 2000's that he recorded a version with Axl, etc.
So this story was really confirmed by Lionel or it was just a fuckin' gossip?

It is hard to say which musicians inspired Axl musically, alot of them have been previously mentioned, but I will have to say, I have never heard him mention Beattles or Paul. I am glad GNR re-recorded LALD, it is so much better than the original recording. I am not a huge Beattle's fan, but I can't deny they have left their mark musically, and I have grown up with them, so I can't say I am a hater, some tunes are more likable than others, but I would have to agree, I don't think this will become a reality

He mentioned John and Paul as some of the great songwriting duo's during his speech under the induction of Elton John to the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame.
Also, I believe Catcher In The Rye is a tribute to John Lennon.

I can imagine Axl doing a pretty awesome cover of "Eleanor Rigby."

So, is this tribute to Paul's post-Beatles work?
If so I would have loved to hear Guns' take on one of these:

I've got to laugh at the sheer arrogance of organising a tribute album to

It would sort of be fitting of Axl and Guns' history to do 'Band on the Run'

I just don't see stuff like this happening, that's why I get
so
fustrated by posts like this appearing every so often. Any material that Guns N' Roses is going to work on as a band, is most definitely going to be for any forthcoming album.
I really don't see Axl getting the whole band together in a studio to record 1 song for a tribute album, whoever it's for.

, If 'Street Of The Blues' wants to send me anymore PM's stating how much of a retard I am for having this opinion. Then I suggest he actually posts it in the thread, rather than being a pussy and doing it in private where he thinks no one can see it.)

I would say the same thing, however it is Paul McCartney. He could have a statue of himself on his front lawn and it wouldnt be arrogant.

Come Together is a John Lennon track. I don't think Paul has been sued for plagiarising Chuck Berry either.

Well..Guns N Roses made his song a known to the younger generation. I've heard that Paul's own children were into GNR and they could not believe when Paul told them that it was actually his song. So I would not blame him for feeling a bit sour..
To be honest it took me a while to figure out why anyone would want GNR to play specifically on McCartney's album..

I can, for Elton John or for Waters/Gilmour/Wright, Summer '68 would be a killer.
But for them doing tributes is the kind of thing I wouldn't bet my money on, possible but not very likely.

I still don't, and I'm standing by it.
With Chinese Democracy being mythical for being something long awaited for, the next possible GN'R release is going to have just as much attention. Axl sang 3 songs on Sebastians album, but that was just Axl and it wasn't a GN'R band effort, it was Axl helping out a
very
close friend.
And now, the current GN'R members have come accustomed to doing their own projects in any downtime Guns may have. And then you have GN'R doing live dates, which can span the best part of a year, like we saw during 2010.
So why is everyone finding it hard to understand my view, that Axl gathering
all
of GN'R in a studio, to record a song for a damn tribute album, is not going to happen.
Any situation in which GN'R manages to all be in the studio. In my opinion, is most definitely going to be for recording parts for any potential upcoming
GN'R
release, and not some quickly put together song for a tribute record
