He said midwest tour right?  That's 2 shows.  That's not a tour.  I've waited years for the Tommy show.  He can't be leaving St. Louis off the list.  We're the gateway city, the middle of the midwest.  Call Richard he has friends.  He'll tell him what place to book.

I know, wait for it.  Maybe I should offer chocolate chip cookies?  I'm open to bribery, what's it going to take?

If you mean "midwest tour" from what I posted...that wasn't from Tommy.  I got that from one of the other guys in the band.

Hopefully there will be more dates announced. Smiley

Oh darn, I thought that was from Tommy.  Missing a lot not having twitter and facebook.  There's still hope, he booked here once before.

I think it's Tommy Stinson feat. Mike Gent (Figgs), Jon Phillip (Obsoletes/Limbeck) and Tim Schweiger (Tim Schweiger and the Middlemen) -- but I'm not sure.

Tommy Stinson coming to First Avenue

Apr. 7 2011

After touring Europe with Guns 'N Roses and traveling to Haiti to help with hurricane cleanup and relief efforts, former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson has embarked on a solo tour that will bring him to his hometown on May 20 to play a show at First Avenue.

Naturally, news of this First Ave show has already fired up the cogs of the rumor mill, and Stinson added his own fuel to the fire last night by tweeting this little tidbit about his First Ave and Milwaukee shows:

So I'm playing with a full-on rock band behind me at Club Garibaldi's in Milwaukee on 5/19 and First Ave in Mpls on 5/20. Chicago news soon.
7:48 PM Apr 6th via web

Stinson has a lot of musical friends in Minneapolis (in addition to starting out his career in the Replacements, he also played in Bash and Pop with Steve Brantseg and the late Kevin Foley, and more recently performs with Soul Asylum), so it's anyone's guess who he will invite to join him on stage.

Of course, it's our duty to remind you of those studio sessions Stinson completed with Paul Westerberg a few years back, which never saw the light of day. It's a long shot, but not totally out of the question that Westerberg would show up at a gig like this. Here's hoping...

Wow, you guys are so lucky to be able to attend a Tommy show. Thinking about these live shows by Tommy, I wonder when he will decide to drop his album. And also that music video to the song "They Don't Deserve You"?.  Cheesy

Tommy Stinson

Hello my peoples,

I know it?s been a long time since I?ve been able to put enough brain cells together to write a blog, but today I was able to round up just enough. So here goes?

This past weekend my good friend Sean Beavan finished mixing the last two songs for my new solo album. With some hard work and a little luck it will be released in August. We?ll be announcing more info, including album title and release date, very soon. I have also booked 3 shows in the Midwest next month:

Thursday, May 19 ? Milwaukee, WI @ Club Garibaldi?s
Friday, May 20 ? Minneapolis, MN @ First Avenue
Saturday, May 21 ? Chicago, IL @ Double Door

Click on the venues for more info, including support band info and links to buy tickets. More shows will follow to coincide with the record release, so stay tuned.

I?m excited to preview some of the new material at these shows, as well as to just get out and play my own stuff, from Bash & Pop to Perfect to ?Village Gorilla Head.? I?ll be playing these shows with a full rock band which will feature Mike Gent from The Figgs, Tim Schweiger, Jon Phillip from Limbeck, and with a little luck Emily Roberts will be joining us. There will also be some special merch at these shows - new t-shirts and silkscreened posters. I can't speak of any surprises because then they wouldn't be surprises anymore, except to say that there may be a few good ones in store. HAHAHA -- how ya like them apples?

I?ll also be helping to finish the new Soul Asylum record and playing some shows with them over the next few months, including dates in Chile and Peru. And if that?s not enough for all of the good folks down in South America, I am pleased to say I?ll be at Rock In Rio with GnR in October. Yippee for me!!!!!!!

It?s gonna be another busy year for me. Looking forward to seeing all of your faces out there.

Happy Spring,
t

That's brilliant news, he also played Chicago's Double Door in 2004 I believe. And I'm just bursting with excitment for his new album, Tommy never fails to amaze us with his material, I loved VGH.  Cheesy

And the best part was the last bit, He'll be with Guns N' Roses in October for Rock In Rio, Bring It On.  Cool

If Westerberg gets onstage, or any kind of 'Mats stuff takes place at First Avenue, I will scream with both joy and jealousy.
Hell, I'm happy Tommy's playing with a full band, and also jealous I'm not going (cuz I live about 1000 miles away). Aren't we all!

Now, as far as the Chicago date, anyone going to that-show up early for Slobberbone. One of the BEST albums ever is "Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today". The song "Placemat Blues" is just the most AWESOME barn-burning, ass-whoopin rock and f'n roll song ever. And supposedly about the Replacements too.
