I imagine being out in the rain that long wouldn't exactly put somebody in the best mood.

A decent- if somewhat imperfect show. Estranged was incredible though (particularly DJ and Bumble) and the two new covers were pretty cool too...

Best of all they've got 9 more shows to tighten up and for Axl to reestablish his touring voice before they hit Orlando. That's an eternity for a band and frontman this talented. It's gonna be an amazing US/North American tour!!!! beer

It was rough...plain and simple!  I'm not hating, I'm stating the truth and I bet Axl would agree.  Did I enjoy the show still?....yeah, would prefer watching them over anybody else, whenever.  Did I love that they played Estranged? hell yeah!  But after you've been following this band for so long, and especially the last couple years....you know that Axl can sound better, and also be better with the lyrics.  And I'm sure he will in no time.  But I'm not going to sit here and write that he was spot on, and it was his best show, because it wasn't.  I'm just being honest and "real".

But as a guy who knows very little about vocal range, and singing, my question is....How long could it take to get back to hitting all those notes??  There's no doubt that he will (it was only less than a year ago, when he was), but can it take a while?

Can I ask these honest questions without people saying I'm a hater?  Can we have a legitimate conversation about this?

You have to keep in mind, they were on stage in the pouring rain all the time, being soaking wet ... slippery, and actually with all the power and equipment its pretty dangerous as well !

I really enjoyed the show, even with the stream sound getting screwed etc, and missing the end off NR as my stream got cut off there & took a while to refresh.
The end of the show I think it was just curfew time, Jarmo will probably know what happened!

Cheers

What a show ! loved every moment of it.  Feel sorry for Axl and having trouble with some of the songs.  My favorite's were Estranged, Better, Sorry.   Great job guy's can't wait for the US Tour !!

Estranged was just amazing.. TIL was knock-out as well.  Thanks to Rock in Rio for streaming this momentous gig, it looked atmospheric as fk in all that rain and crazy crowd.
beer to all and esp to GnR - outstanding - plus the tirelessly working crew, putting that show on in all that rain was impressive.
not looking forward to staggering through this day at work now  Angry

I'm going to be honest and say that it was one of GN'R's "imperfect" Rock In Rio's, but with the rain among other things, it wasn't the bands fault. It was a damn shame about the rain, but I think with the re-appearence of Estranged the band just managed to save the night.

I do have some issues with certain things like the lyrics, and why did the festival manage to almost mute Richards guitar sound?, that was crazy. Ron was a monster and so was Frank, but I'm just saddened with how the show went after NR, and Axl seemed to be furious.

And then Paradise City reminded me of when I saw the band in Dublin in 2010, Axl just standing there and not performing, whilst in a bad mood. I also have other issues with a certain bandmember, which I will not air yet again.  hihi

But other than that, I think it was a succesfull show, and thank god that Ron is in this band.  Cheesy

i havent posted in a long time, but i will throw in my 2 cents. i thought dj was great. i am not a big fan of him, but i loved his performance. i also thought the sound mix was terrible, atleast on my stream it was.  i have no clue what happened, axl seemed to be in such high spirits at the start of the show. i will not speculate, but needless to say he did seemed bothered during & after nov. rain. which for me was a shame. i didnt get to see if they came back out & bowed as the feed cut off. i'm not gonna sit here & say the show was great, but i'm not gonna slam it as bad as some of the message boards are. hopefully the next few shows go flawless, & i say that because the u.s is a hard sell. word of mouth unfortunatly counts here. also in closing, i was not at the show, so me sitting at home may have a completely different perspective than someone that attended the show.

That's right, I've booked today off work so I'm going to buy a few beers and watch back all of Rock In Rio and disect every bit of footage. I'm so glad that the band looks on top form, even if there was a few flaws, that's what GN'R have always been about I suppose.

Although seeing as GN'R at Rock In Rio, is considered special. I still think it's a shame the way it ended, especially since all of the other Rio appearences have gone off fantastically.
