Same here. If you didn't see it in person you can't really tell how great it is. Smiley

I agree, I initially was someone who wished that they would have stuck with Jungle, and I still think it's a beast of an opener. But after seeing the Chinese Democracy intro many times, I have to say that it's just such an epic build up, and works really well with all of the lighting and tv screen animations.  ok

I would say that most of those who says Chinese Democracy isn't a great opener hasn't seen the show....

The anticipation level is pretty fucking high as the intro music starts.

People are excited to see the show start and the band come onstage.

So you hit them with something new, and then, something more familiar.

It's like a one-two deal instead of just one punch....  Wink

In saying chin dem should be the opener, I think it depends on the show/audience. Reading, for example, really needed jungle to open, to attempt to offset the predictable boos from those teenage NME readers all there to see Pete docherty.

Or extend the outro and have them leave one by one... And then come back for the bow after the song is over.

But yeah, the way they did it in 2009-2010 works great. Everybody knows the song.

Here in Brazil most of the VIP area knew the song and they sang the whole song! I was quite surprised actually.

Yeah. I noticed similar things all over the world.

Songs people weren't "supposed to be" familiar with, went over great.  Smiley

Elton John, Rihanna and Katy Perry performs on the opening night.

Would've been cool if Elton stuck around to do a song with GN'R the next week.

Edit: Never mind.. He has a show in Vegas on Oct 2nd.
