I don't believe there's a reason...

« Reply #200 on: May 10, 2011, 03:58:29 PM »

Because the tickets sold out online?
Not exactly, but the normal sales are goddamn boring and people are waiting several hours to try to buy tickets. RIR website had a problem (crashed for a lot of people) when they opened the sales and there are much more tickets avaliable, but they have to go to Rio to buy it. By the way there are people already selling the tickets for over U$500 and that sucks.

Bruno, trust me i did like 100 tries to buy my tickets with my own VISA credit card. I tried it all. Never succed.

Thank God a friend of mine bought me the tickets with an American Express. But there's still a lot of people without tickets, people who started trying to buy at 00:01 of the first day...

worst organization EVER. Its just unbelievable what has happened.

Yes, there are several fans goddamn sad because they couldn't buy it due to RIR's ridiculous organization. It's not fair to them, I mean for us, but Medina doesn't care - he's rich, people will go to the festival no matter what happens to see their favorite band and he'll earn much more money. But he's still a moron. I voted countless times on those polls asking which band we'd like to see, but if I could go back in time, I'd start a campaign 'GNR at Rock in Rio? Never again! Solo shows please'. Not really, but GNR solo shows were much more organized, even if the tickets were more expensive. I'll try to buy it because I love GNR (and Evanescence is one of my favorite bands as well), but from now on I hate Rock in Rio.

Now it's official: All tickets (online and on store sales) for all days are sold out.

So this GNR show is SOLD OUT. Expected audience: 100k people. (this new rock city is much smaller than the previous one in 2001, that had 250k).

Same here, damn that was fast. I was hoping there would be tickets for like a week or two.

Oh well, now let's hope they stream it online or something.

Pitty, I thought we would have a while... didn't want to buy a ticket until I was sure I had enough dineros for my plain tickets.

Crikey - that went quicker than expected.

I think a few of us from the UK got tickets - counting down the days.

Hope there's a live stream again - kinda makes you feel part of it all, when everyone is huddled around their screens watching too!  Smiley

Unless it is like Rock in Rio Lisboa 2006 and all you can hear on the feed in Jungle is Dizzy....I mean his playing was fine, just wanted to hear what the rest of the band were doing as well  confused

I plan on doing some sort of regular commentary on my whole "Brit in Rio for GNR" experience...as a fan in the enormous crowd. There may be others who are able to update closer to the action.

I'm sure you'll have a great time - look forward to the reports!

Agree on the 2006 feed, something was definitely off with the mix on the stream/TV.

It's the truth, the feed was the truely horrible. But from someone who was there it was amazing live, and actually it was probably one of the best festival sounds I've ever heard. But I wouldn't worry about the feed, the Brazilians got it spot on in 2001, so they already know to do it right.

Actually the Reading footage 2010 reminds me alot of the Lisbon mix, you could only hear Axl and the rest of the band were hardly audiable. But once again, live it was brilliant, so it's a shame that they don't always get it right for the television audience.  Embarrassed

600,000 snap up Rock in Rio tickets

(AFP) ? 20 hours ago

RIO DE JANEIRO ? Rock in Rio may be more than a quarter-century old, but the mega-music festival is showing few signs of age with some 600,000 tickets for this year's incarnation selling out in four days.

The concert series is returning to the Brazilian city of its birth for the first time since 2001, with six shows set for late September and early October -- and another event in 2013.

"The pace of sales surprised us," Roberta Medina, vice president of the festival, said in a statement late Tuesday.

"Fortunately, today we have a different reality in the country, with a strong city that allows us to transform Rock in Rio into a biannual event. Fans can expect that in 2013 there is a new edition of the festival here."

Sales began on Saturday, with tickets going for 190 reals (117 dollars) for each day of the show. Some 90,000 tickets were snapped up online in the first 10 hours.
The festival will take place September 23-25 and September 30 to October 2, and is set to feature more than 150 international artists and Brazilian stars.

Among the acts taking the stage this year: Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Metallica, Coldplay, Rihanna, Elton John, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motorhead, Slipknot, Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Mana, Evanescence, System of a Down and Guns N' Roses.

The series' first event was held in Rio over 10 days in January 1985, and by drawing 1.4 million people it is believed to be the largest rock festival in the world.

The next editions were in 1991 and 2001, before the series ventured overseas, with several Rock in Rio concerts held in Lisbon and Madrid.

Yes, I think we are almost certain it's going to be streamed online.

Let's just hope we get a better mix than in 2006, the sound guys really screwed people with that.  Tongue

It's 2011, not 2006. Why are some of you bringing that up all the time?

Probably because Rock In Rio is a huge festival, and they've played it 2 times in the last 10 years. It's only natural for people to discuss the last time they played and things associated with it. Same as when GN'R got confirmed to play Leeds 2010, people were relaying their memories about Leeds 2002, and how it was a different site and stuff.

Besides, people only brought up the issue of the sound coming from the pro shot, which they hope to be better this time around. What's the harm in that?, it's not like they are bringing up the issue of past bandmembers or even new songs being played.  Tongue
