Not the most optimal setting for a rock concert.


But the band and crew pulled it off!

I've read a couple media reviews that sounds like it comes from someone who's seen too many Nickelback shows, and doesn't remember what rock and roll is really about.

When I go to a show...I'm not looking for a pitch perfect, over produced rendition of the album(s) that might as well have been pretaped for all the soul, feeling, emotion, and artistry that's attached to it.  If I want to listen to canned/pre-recorded music...I'll pop in the album (or go see a pop concert).

When I go to see a rock concert, I'm looking for the emotion and artistry of the performer and what they can lend to their work in that forum that they just CAN'T on an album.  I'm looking for them to engage me in a way no pre-recorded material can do.

I've seen GnR about 10 times since 1988 (my first show was at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middleton, NY).  They have NEVER been "technically" perfect.  EVER.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.

It's really odd that we can't even have a frank discussion of the vocal performance without the topic getting deleted. Like any live performance, there were bright spots and mistakes. I don't see why we have to sugar coat that.

In that case, no one who wasn't there should praise or criticize, since we have no idea what they sounded like. But, I'm sure no one really thinks that. Anyway, what I said in the thread that got deleted, was that I think the vocal approach he used last night was great for Estranged - better than the way he sang it on UYI, for the most part. I don't know if it's as effective for You Could Be Mine, and since I know enough about singing to know that he could sing raspy if he wanted to, I'm curious whether he held off because he's saving his voice or for some other reason? Seems like an interesting topic to me.

Thank you...this band really nailed CD/WTJJ and ISE MBS to perfection.

And Axl is really in his zone on ISE, MBS and LALD (scream) throughout. His sounds like an alarm that says DANGER!

Heh...getting oldschool vibe going. I REALLY REALLY hope they do OMG again tho, he could sing it similar to how he sings ISE, switch between low, evil voice with a little added growling and then do high notes at the end of pre-chorus sentences. Omagad, I'd love so much if they did that song.

From what I've seen on youtoube, I thought they did really well. I am reading a ton of negative reviews about the band. What did people expect? Why are people still surprised there is no Duff or Slash, this band has been around since 2001 with some changes obviously. Why are people saying there is a problem with Axl and Tommy? I'm sick of hearing the negativity. Let me see someone who doesn't complain about working conditions and still does a great job. Axl and the band played in down pouring rain, do you have any idea how much that must of sucked, but they went out and did their best and rocked !
