I normally don't do this, so this whole post is going to be hypocritical to my beliefs that if someone doesn't like a band, then there's no need to comment on them or bash them. But in this case I just can't help myself. When Cage the Elephant released their first single to radio, I thought it was one of the most annoying songs my ears have ever had to suffer through. Their latest single, I think it's called "Shake me down" kinda makes me want to shove an ice pick in my ears so I never have to be subjected to that awful, awful noise again in my life. And this shit is getting played on "rock" radio. These guys, Kings of Leon, and a bunch of others just need to fall off the face of the earth.

I totally get what your saying, some music that's classified as rock is just commercialised crap. I don't like the way the music industry is going, all of these trendy popy bands, getting classified as rock and metal, it really is getting stupid.

To be classified as rock you need to play proper rock music, and live the lifestyle to some extent. It doesn't cut it to act that way, just for the media and music videos.

Some of these "rock" bands couldn't last 1 day on the street on their own.  yes

I also can not stand the amount of airplay these guys get.  In fact I've started listening to the Classic Rock station
a little more and more these days for this reason.  I listen to the radio at work, so I listen quite a bit.

As soon as I would hear "IM SITTIN ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN" in that wannabe Robert Plant whine, I had to stop
working, and go over to the radio and change it.
Plus the song itself seems to be about chilling out and getting drunk, which is something in a song i usually prefer...
it spent a few weeks as "The most requested song of the day"...The top 9 at 9 (only radio stations in my city do this
gimmick btw)  seems funny people only request brand new songs?
