Would Axl win a Grammy if he produced a stripped down acoustic guitar album? Anyone else think Axl would do well to produce an honest, stripped down, organic record? Something in the singer/songwriter format in the tradition of Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Ben Harper, and Jack Johnson vein. I think he would. With his vocal gift and song writing abilities; I think it would be amazing. Maybe he could produce a few songs with just him and a piano and the rest would be acoustic guitar songs. He should produce an album that is stripped down, similar to Willie Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. He could use his lower, more melodic voice and mix it with subtle touches of his raspy, gravely voice and just try backing off some of the banshee notes for a change. Axl could really show off his "talking voice" and let the song jump out more instead of being lost in his amazing vocal range, he would lean more on the simple melody of the song and his profound lyrics instead of his high notes.
 Just a thought.

I have always wanted a full length GN'R acoustic live set or album. More so when Slash and the others were still there. I think Guns now could do it and do it very fucking well.

I would prefer a piano album -  would love to hear his rough demos of many of these songs as he was working them out and piecing them together too

Not a bad idea. It would be trully interesting. Have you heard the Opeth album "Damnation"? I would love to see how Axl can aproach that kind of concept for an album...

I would love to see an acoustic album. But as for the Grammy thing. Don't really care about awards in music. they never get it right any way.

As far as I can tell, there's no deadline mentioned in the original post.

It doesn't ask "should Axl do an acoustic album right now?".

Besides, you don't even know IF that would have any effect whatsoever on other GN'R projects if Axl chose to record an acoustic album.

And yes, I think Axl has proven that he's capable of doing many kinds of songs and they all sound amazing.

That's what distinguishes great singers from the rest. They can't be put in one box. "You're a rock singer, you can only sing this kind of music". That kind of thinking doesn't apply to Axl.

Maybe more of an organically based piano structure, though

I don't want it...

On the other hand Axl can do that and possibly he will do that but I'm sure Guns n Roses will never do acoustic album

no deadline and surely he is cabable of doing this, but off course the intention here is to hear the product. seriously if he'd record it next month you think it would be released anytime soon? i'm just stating (based on the absolute slow progress regarding official releases in anything of Axl's world since old Guns break-up) that the focus should rather be on the release of the (near) finished 1-2 albums he's talked about and wanted to come out.
yeah, plans change, we dont know shit, and if Axl is goin to do a Death Metal album i would want to hear that, too! doesnt change my thoughts that the recording of more of different Axl (solo) albums will take even too much more time away from the actual GN'R plans - if the focus still is on CD2/CD3 that is.
