I love it.

Rangers didn't overpay for Cliff Lee and are right back in the ALCS while Lee loses his 3rd straight postseason start

sometimes its the money u don't spend.

I called it in the offseason. When it matters most in October Lee isn't all that spectacular especially in the world series. He's really had 4 consecutive not so great starts. Game 5 of the 09 WS he gave up 5 runs but still won cause we had Burnett going in that one.

i disagree with you guys. 2 of his last 4 WS starts were quality starts.

it sounds like you are saying he is not clutch when the pressure is on. i would argue that all the playoffs are extremely pressure filled, and his collective stats over the post-seasons of 2010 and 2009 are incredible.

not just sticking up for him cause he's with the phils either. he needs to pitch better than he did the other night. that was a disappointment for a player of his caliber, especially considering he was spotted a 4 run lead. but there are not too many pitchers i would rather have.

Quality? Possibly, i wouldn't consider giving up 5 runs a quality start even though he got the win. He had that great game 1 start against the yankees then game 5 gave up 5 runs. He was saved only by Burnett. Game one last year was a stinker and game 5 i'll give you that as quality but he still lost it for the Rangers.

2010:
WS Game 1: 4.2 IP, 6 ER
WS Game 5: 7 IP, 3 ER (quality start)

2009:
WS Game 1: 9 IP, 0 ER (quality start)
WS Game 5: 7 IP, 5 ER

clearly he has not had 4 straight "not so great" starts.

OVERALL post-season numbers:
2010: 3-2, 2.78 ERA
2009:  4-0, 1.56 ERA

those are fantastic post-season numbers in 2009-2010. the guy played a major role in his team's reaching the world series. and he set the phillies up well with a Game 1 win on the road in 2009 - it doesn't get much more high-pressure than that.

this year, he was a Cy Young candidate up until the end of the season. so that comfortable lead the phils had going into the post-season was in part due to his performance.

i'm not saying Texas made a mistake cause that's alot of money he got paid. but i am just pointing out that he is a great pitcher and has proved so in both the regular season and the playoffs.

He's been great in the LDS and LCS overall definitely until this year but when it matters the most in the WS he has been 50/50. It will be interesting to see how he does in the LCS if the phils advance.

My personal opinion, Quality start stat for the post season should have diffferent criteria than Reg Season

I hate that stat anyway

6ip 3ER is a quality start but that is a 4.50 ERA.... that is hardly *Quality* in my opinion

so a postseason start of 3ER in 7IP  is still just under 4.......

I think the proper criteria for a QS should be 2ER  6IP minimum

OK, predictions for the rest which I'll have to change 2 days from now.

Yankees over Tigers tonight
Dbacks over Brewers
Phillies over Cards

ALCS: Yankees over Rangers in 6
NLCS: Phillies over Dbacks in 5

Series: Yankees over Phillies in 7

Not a Yankees fan either, I'm actually rooting for the Tigers

Yanks are way too flawed to win the world series

 I got Rangers vs Phillies

athough those Brewers are looking like a team of destiny

You may be right but i see the rangers daily their pitching staff can be just as flawed as the yankees. The rotation or the bullpen doesn't exactly strike fear into me. Now the yankees bullpen to an opponent? Hell yeah, they can make a game a 6 inning game with Soriano, Robertson and Rivera out of the pen.

A few days ago i would've agreed with you on the Brewers but their last two games have been shaky at best. I expect them to win game 5 but i'm not sure how well they'll do against the Phils or Cards.

I want to smack Girardi already. Why would you remove a guy that hasn't lost since June after two innings for Hughes? WTF are you thinking!  Nova had two bad pitches that barely got over the wall then a scorless second. You gotta give the kid a little more of a chance there. Also, dear ump, a ball that crosses in the batters box is not a strike.

Awful showing from the Yankees tonight. Way too impatient at the plate they continuously helped the pitcher. You can't have bases loaded one out that often and score one run. Inexcusable, and Girardi managing the pitching like an moron. Sabathia had no business in that game i'm sorry not on his throw day. His run cost us big time. I call bullshit on the report that Nova's forearm was stiff too. Joe just got too nervous and ended up costing us the game.

I missed the first few innings, but I heard Nova was having trouble with his breaking ball.  I doubt Girardi would've taken him out unless there was something wrong with him.  Not after 2 runs.

And I don't know if it'll stay this way but, Alex Rodriguez is no longer a feared hitter in that Yankee lineup.  I mean, the guy is still good, but he's not close to what he once was.  At least it seems that way to me, I haven't glossed over the stats or watched his every at bat, so correct me if need be.

I don't know D, Tigers have the best pitcher in the league available for possibly 3 games.  It's not going to be easy for the Rangers, as their starting pitching is suspect.  Their bullpen is solid though Tim, I disagree with you there.  I mean, they don't have Rivera at the end, but who does?

I still like the Phillies to with the World Series, IF they get there.  They've got some work to do though.

Your Rangers D?

What about your Braves?

Baseball rooting protocol permits only 1 "favorite" team.  Grin
