Someone at City Winery PR better check their facts on whom Tommy is playing with (hey, I'm a HUGE Replacements fan, but time to update things. Last Mats gig is in 199frickin1).

and DAMMIT-why does Tommy have to play with Jesse Malin??!? The one person I hate more than anything. Don't you just hate when one of your favorite artists/bands plays with someone you can't stand?

Okay, the ticket prices ain't too bad. And I can leave early too.

That is amazing news and I agree with Christos, it would be immense for him to come to Europe.

I've always wanted to see a solo Tommy show, he definitely has amazing songs to showcase.

Well you would think now would be the time with these solo shows and all. Also bear in mind that Tommy has already filmed the video for the song "They Don't Deserve You". So you would think it has to be soon, unless something has delayed the project.

When I asked about his solo album on Twitter awhile ago he said he was waiting until GN'R had a long enough gap in touring. So maybe this is the time, but if GN'R announce another tour it probably won't be until after that.

Got my tix. Bar stool seat at the 'First Bar', stage left. Never been to this venue, never seen Tommy live (well, solo at least). Can't wait!

Going by the seating chart, looks like most of the good tables/VIP tables are already taken.

Will that be an accoustic gig or maybe with a full band?

Anyways, I'd really love to see him live. I love VGH and would love to listen to some new tunes aswell. Smiley

The last GN'R show I attended which was Manchester I was filming and taking pictures of Tommy all night. I always take a few photos and videos at shows, but at Manchester I was just drawn to Tommy, I just thought he is a legend.

I love the way he moves and how recently at shows he comes to the front with Axl more than he did in 2006/7. I would love nothing more than to see a Tommy solo show, I know he has come to Europe solo before, so here's to hoping. ok

This is a show with Jesse Malin and his band - so I was under the impression he was playing before them...

IT'S ALL IN THE FAMILY
Posted 1/26/2011 7:23:00 PM

When Tommy Stinson comes to town, he doesn't have to go too far because he's already in town! A Philly area resident for the past couple of years, the Guns N Roses bassist has been busy with a tour that has taken him everywhere from Australia to Abu Dhabi. With a few idle months and a lot of new music on his hard drive, he's chomping at the bit to get out with a little combo for a few dates to road test soon to be released material. That's what brings him to the North Star, 27th and Poplar, on Friday February 18.

This mini-tour, that extends to NYC, Boston and Arlington, Va. will be a showcase for his new music which he's been working on for several years now. Recorded in a Delaware County basement as well as an LA studio, there's a range of styles and influences that include a Stones-y raveup, punked up blues and even a cowboy yodeling around the campfire. The setlist will also draw from his post-Replacements projects such as Bash N Pop and Perfect and his first solo outing, Village Gorilla Head. Plus, he's been known to jump on a classic cover or two in performance as well.

The combo is a family affair with fiancee Emily Roberts singing on the songs that she also performs on the record. For the North Star show, Chip Roberts will accompany on guitar, as he did on much of the forthcoming record. Longtime Philadelphia local music fans will remember Chip's "chicken pickin'" playing with bands like The One-400's and The Drinkers. (disclosure: I'm married to Chip Roberts and Emily is my niece so that makes Tommy my "almost" nephew. I'm a tad biased but the new music is REALLY good!)

It'll be a one hour show with an opening act still to be determined. For more information, visit the North Star Bar website.
