Do you think it's possible? On the past tour the band opened with the long intro and of course with Chinese Democracy and the whole video wall thing, don't get me wrong I love the way they open it's full of adrenaline and excitement and gets the crowd going. But do you think it's possible they open with something else? For instance I was thinking about maybe they could open with Scraped with the whole Frank drum intro like in Osaka 2009? Or maybe some other song new or old?

Here's Scraped from Osaka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6z8eCcb1Gg

So what do you guys think about the idea? Could it happen in any near future?

To me, Riad would be a great opener. Sure most people disagree, but still...

I would love to have Scraped in 2nd close to Chinese, tho. It would work similar to how they do Its So Easy and Brownstone with that drum intro.

I agree they should stick with Chinese for most of the shows, but it wouldn't hurt to do one or two with a different opener (different than Jungle too, since that's been used a couple of times).  Smiley

Stuff like Perfect Crime and Coma are pretty unrealistic to ask for.

I think many new songs could be opening ones - Shackler's, Scraped, Riad - but the Chinese intro with the red screen n' DJ looks so cool that maybe Axl wants the whole world to see it. Most people have no idea about this gigs that are happening. Maybe a lot of people already know Guns is on tour for an year but have no idea of what to expect from the show. We (hardcore fans) are just a few motherfuckers if you take a global look - so maybe that's why there won't be any huge changes for now - so everyone can see what the lucky ones have seen already! Wink
If, after the US tour, the band starts to go to places they have been already since the tour strated in Japan, then maybe we might expect a change or two, who knows. So let's wait till round 2 hits our towns!

I once had this dream I was in a Guns gig n' the opener was Shackler's - but before it started, the cool heavy beats with Bucket's crazy noises from the beginning (4) would be on repeat for a long time - it sounded cool!! Haha! So then I remember that I woke, put my stereo very loud, put Shackler's on n' started to rewind it several times, only hearing the beginning - very disturbing n' cool! Wink

I think that Chinese Democracy is the perfect opener.

To put people off guard, open with This is Love!.  Axl alone on the piano!

ChiDem and WTTJ are the only songs that should open a GN'R set.

Scraped is the only song on CD that I didn't like, so I'm quite appreciative that the band has not adopted your idea.

I think that's been considered actually. From the setlist pics we've seen, it always reads CD and then Scraped as #2. Of course the printed setlists are just more of a "guide" for both Tommy and the tech guys I assume, as they seldom play the songs in the exact order.

IMO there's not many songs on ChiDem that fits as an opener - Chinese, Shackler's and maybe Riad are the one's that would work.

As for other alternatives there's WTTJ (of course), It's So Easy, Nightrain, Out Ta Get Me, Mama Kin (a cover might not be the best way to go though), Right Next Door To Hell, Perfect Crime, Garden Of Eden, Shotgun Blues or Down On The Farm (again a cover, but I think this one would fit in nicely).

just switch the openers frequently so people never know what song to get first!
unexpected things have always been an important part of Rock N Roll, and often with this band, too.
missing that!

I personally wouldn't like it being switched frequently, Chinese Democracy is a kickass opener like I said changing it once or twice during the tour (to something else than WTTJ) would be a nice surprise.  Smiley

I think CD is an awesome opener but I would love to see Perfect Crime or Reckless Life as an opener just for a change.

 peace

P.S I would love to see Move to the City and Yesterdays back in the set. I have been listening to Lies a lot lately.
