I quite like the music, but I can't really get myself to like the vocals. Perhaps if this was a VR record with Weiland, it could have been good.

I have some of the same feelings as you hRob. Not diggin' it, but like some riffs and beats here and there. Some input from genius songwriters like Duff and Scott would have turned up the quality.

yeah no sure why he prefers this band to VR other than the control thing. In exchange for him having complete control we are stuck with a weaker product, so far those 3 songs I heard sound a lot like Snakepit throwaways. "You're a Lie" is an ok song.

Like I said on different board, if slash were to be saving a certain song for a guns reunion it would be Anastasia. Can you imagine the izzy/duff/axl parts on that song.....damn

Ok thats a pretty kick ass song, best one I have heard from this record thus far. The guitar really reminds me of Illusion era stuff.

Shots fired is good too! The old GNR era slash is back. Wish he played like this on contraband.

Anastasia could very well be the best song he has played on since he left GNR. It really is that good.

Yeah? Well, here's another way of looking at it: Slash being in control ensures we have a product at all -- as opposed to endless behind the scenes quarrels and conflicts that lead to years of unfinished, unrecorded, and unreleased music.

Got the album today in Australia - 17th May!
So I think I'm one of the first in the world to own a physical copy of the album (not counting the versions people have downloaded off the internet!
)
Only half way through my first listen, but in full CD quality, it sounds killer!!!
The youtube clips definitely don't do it justice!

Just watching the bonus DVD documentary that came with the deluxe edition, which is pretty cool.
You're A Lie started quite different to how it ended up on the record. It started out quite funky almost...
Really cool to see them jamming and writing the album!

Good post longgoneby. All the albums released by all the members have their flaws which makes sense that the best music came from the original 5. But that in no way keeps me from enjoying cd,VR, slash, snakepit, izzy, loaded, buckethead. VR had the most special moments for me with CD a close 2nd. Songs like If the world, scraped kinda ruin cd for me. I was expecting the perfect record after hearing their was 3 albums worth of new material. Also CD lacks a true rocker which is expected with the personnel in the band.

Could be good or even great record without Myles "Why people like me anyway?" Kennedy ruining it. He's fuckin' BORING! Lyrics...meh. No hooks at all. And that voice......he sounds like Steven Tyler in helium. Band sounds also pretty boring too. But Slash rocks, Anastasia, killer track. That's about it.

The new record of Slash is AMAZING!, I love the ballads, my fav is "Far and Away", very emotive and beautiful, fuckin epic!; hard rocker songs are great too, killers Riff and solos, but, the magnificent comes in Anastasia and Standing in the Sun!, classic!. Myles's performance are so brillant, but the the best of the record, are the Slash's guitar, definitely his best work since Contraband!
Slash, you made it again!, you never disappoint!
